A pickup truck driver who killed seven motorcyclists in New Hampshire last year told authorities he had a drug problem and regularly used heroin and cocaine, but was sober at the time of the crash.

Volodymyr Zukovsky’s confession was included in a series of documents released Wednesday by federal investigators related to the June 21, 2019, incident in Randolph.

The National Transportation Safety Board also said it will hold a hearing on Dec. 1 to discuss the investigation’s feasibility, reasons and safety recommendations.

Zukowski told Massachusetts State Police that he was using three to four bags of heroin a day, and that he had used both heroin and cocaine the morning of the incident. She admitted that she felt the effects of cocaine after her last delivery, but “she’s fine, she drives well”.

Zukowski has pleaded not guilty to multiple counts of manslaughter and drunken driving. He remains in custody and is expected to be released early next year.

Prosecutors previously reported in documents that Zukowski had drugs in his system at the time of the crash, including fentanyl, morphine and chemicals in cocaine.

An independent analysis of the accident by Zukowski’s attorney found that one of the motorcyclists was intoxicated and actually crashed into Zukowski’s pickup causing the accident.

All seven are members of the Jarheads Motorcycle Club, a New England group made up of Marines and their partners. The victims were from New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

The documents also include details about Zukowski’s driving history, which includes four convictions and two accidents. His commercial driver’s license had been suspended for a DUI arrest in Connecticut two months prior to the accident.

Zukowski was driving to Westfield, Massachusetts, when the accident happened. The company had a history of defaults before its collapse, and documents released Tuesday provided more details about the troubled company. It has no documentation that it has an enterprise security program, drug testing program, or any kind of service and maintenance system.

One of its managers admitted to lying to investigators about the records of some of the drivers they checked. An investigation by the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Administration after the crash found the company in violation of more than 20 violations.
