Patient Care Technician Careers

In the Patient Care Technician certification program, you will learn in a specialized setting how to assist physicians and nurses by providing specialized, high-level clinical responsibilities in a medical setting. The program includes subjects such as anatomy and physiology, medical law and ethics, medical communication, medical documentation, patient preparation, medical terminology, safety and compliance, and regular laboratory exercises and tests integrated into the courses. Five trained for 24 weeks.

You will learn a wide range of professional skills that will set you apart in the competitive job market. Upon completion of this program, you will meet the educational requirements to take the Certified Care Technologist (CPCT) exam sponsored by the National Health Association (NHA).

Graduates of this program are encouraged to continue to perform phlebotomy and EKGs required for certification. These additional post-employment requirements are prerequisites for obtaining a Certified ECG Technician (CET) or Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification. Students will study the organization of the integumentary, musculoskeletal, circulatory, lymphatic, immune, and cardiovascular systems in the human body.
