Delta Flights From West Palm Beach To Atlanta

Delta Flights From West Palm Beach To Atlanta – The aviation geek in me is embarrassed to admit that I didn’t even know ahead of time what plane was destined for this short trip to ATL. I’ve flown this route on Delta a million times (more or less) and it’s usually one of three planes: 767, 757 or MD-88. However, the 757-200 is the most common, and I thought that would be it for now.

My thinking was that there was no way it was an MD-88 due to the hot weather in South Florida and they probably needed all the lift they could get. I almost broke my arm doing that kind of logical reasoning on the back, so I was more than a little surprised (and humbled) when the MD-88 pulled up to the C3 gate.

Trip Report: Delta Airlines Md 88 First Class West Palm Beach To Atlanta

Here’s a not-so-flattering shot of Concourse C at PBI, but it’s a very nice airport.

We had to rescue a cat from a pet hotel in San Diego before they closed for the day, so it was important that all our flights were on time! You know the saying, “If the cat ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy.” or something like that. 🙂 But it’s true – our cat wouldn’t accept someone spending another night in jail, so I was very happy to see that our flight to Atlanta arrived on time. On top of that, the weather up north was great so I didn’t expect any delays.

An up close and personal look at the MD-88 that will take us to Atlanta in the morning.

Although we were among the first passengers, we still had to wait while others tried to put their large bags in the bins.

Delta Builds On Position As The Leading Global Carrier In Boston

July 12, 2012 was the last time I was on MD-88 (actually the same route), so I didn’t remember us not getting a 757 before ATL on that leg. What made it even better was the fact that this plane was equipped with Delta’s new first class seats, and this is the first time I had a chance to try them. Not only did these racing cars look good with the red stripe, but they were also quite comfortable. Firm and supportive, yet soft enough to feel like a first-class seat. They look like normal sets of strings, but I assure you they are not.

Wide angle shot of the entire MD-88 First Class cabin. I love the subtle texture on the bulkheads – a very nice touch.

PBI is a small airport where the time from take-off to take-off is always short and the wait is very little. We entered Runway 10 on time, with a great view of West Palm Beach and coastal Florida as we headed north to ATL.

I am happy to report that the service on board was much better than on our trip to PBI last Tuesday. The flight attendant was cheerful and pleasant, constantly walking around the cabin, checking on everyone.

As is customary with Delta’s first class service, hot towels were handed out before drinks and snacks were served. There was no food on this flight (no one was waiting), but the flight attendants went around the cabin several times with a basket of snacks for those who were hungry.

Much to our cat’s delight, we arrived in ATL on time, giving us about two and a half hours before our connecting flight home from San Diego. I don’t mind leading though – in fact, the better in ATL when it comes to food. There are countless restaurants to eat at – even healthy options which I really appreciate. It’s extremely rare for me to show up at an airport today and have absolutely no idea which plane I’ll be flying on, but today is the case. day The past few weeks have been so busy with work and vacation that I somehow completely forgot which plane would be flying that short leg to ATL this morning. Delta operates a pretty diverse fleet here in West Palm Beach and they put me on everything from the L-1011 to the MD-88 after flying ATL for years and there was no telling what we were going to get.

I decided to make a game out of it (if you can call it that) by not checking out until we got to the door. That’s an old school trip right there! I remember flying with my family as a boy in the 80’s and then not knowing the type of aircraft before it made it difficult to know how it worked. Especially when you’re 10 years old and your mom doesn’t want to make a few extra calls to find you.

Unfortunately, my little toy wasn’t as exciting as I remember it being in the 80’s. We took our time going through security, passed the gate leading to Starbucks, and finally made our way down to the gate a few minutes before boarding. Then I finally looked out the window to see what was about to happen. hrmf MD-88. so ok Where’s my breakfast?

DL1458 West Palm Beach, FL (PBI) – Atlanta, GA (ATL) Tuesday, December 27, 2016 Aircraft: MD-88 Registration: N920DE Duration: 1 hour 51 minutes Seat: 14E (Comfort + / Premium Economy)

I also forgot we had premium economy seats on this flight. We were standing at the gate patiently waiting to board when I first noticed the “Sky Priority” stamp on our boarding passes. Well, doesn’t it matter? For some reason, I thought our only premium economy segment on this trip would be the next ATL-SAN segment, but apparently I forgot that we would get it for that flight as well. Premium Economy (Comfort+, as Delta calls it) isn’t very raved about on some domestic planes like the MD-88, but there seems to be something good about being a “premium” passenger. Even if it was completely random.

Let’s back up for a minute before I start with the landing photos. This is the Delta check-in desk here at PBI. It’s not that exciting, but the picture is needed for a full travelogue!

PBI is one of those airports that I think could be really great if they invested in the design. It’s kind of useless. This is the main terminal (before going through security).

Delta Flight Makes Rough Landing In Charlotte Without Gear Extended

It was almost impossible to get a clear picture without all the reflections in the glass, but you get the idea. This is our morning walk in ATL.

One interesting thing to note about the boarding process was the fact that the gate agents in each zone required everyone to board before proceeding. “We have 15 more passengers in zone 1 who have not yet boarded so please respond now if this is your zone number.” Note that there were many people in other areas trying to get around the gate – the agents wouldn’t let any of them in until Area 1 was fully engaged.

It’s hard to believe that it will only be a few years before all of these MD-88s leave the DL fleet.

Delta Air Lines MD-88 Comfort Plus seats. They are very similar to the comfortable Plus seats on the Delta 767-300, which is not saying much.

Those MD-88 internals are starting to look a little dated, but this class is still a lot of fun to fly.

Sorry, but it’s time to get a little AvGeeky around here. As with most aircraft I fly, I enjoy photographing the details. This is the armrest.

“Fasten your seat belt when standing.” It’s a table closer. Laugh all you want, but one day someone will thank me for these detailed photos! (I hope…)

The flight to ATL was about 75% full, so things seemed quieter and more comfortable. It was a very slow process of landing, pushing back and taxiing to the runway – this is how I wanted to travel. The less stress and running, the better.

What’s It Like Flying First Class With Delta Air Lines?

This morning we headed east on Runway 10L, which had some truly spectacular views of the South Florida coast as we flew out of town. The sun was too high to get really good photos, but hey, white sand beach photos (regardless of the angle of the sun) are always good in my opinion.
