Garth’s career in law enforcement began as the first supervisor at the West Valley Detention Center. He was later assigned to Morongo Basin, China Hill Station, and Bandit/Narcotics. As an investigator, he was assigned to the Hesperia Station and Special Enforcement Unit. As a sergeant, Garth was assigned to Twin Peaks Station and China Hill Station. After being promoted to the rank of lieutenant, Garth was appointed commander of the Central Classification Division, and then appointed attorney for the Special Enforcement Division. Garth served as a Captain in Personnel Resources and in command positions at China Hill Station.
Garth earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration from Union College and University and a master’s degree in business administration from California Baptist University. He holds numerous professional certifications and memberships and is a graduate of the FBI-LEEDA Leadership Trilogy and the Drucker School of Management’s California Chiefs of Police Leadership Institute.

San Bernardo, California. (AP) – A San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputy was shot and wounded Tuesday during a traffic stop.
The 27-year-old deputy tried to pull over the car shortly after 4 p.m. Sheriff Shannon D. Dicus said at a news conference when he was shot and killed while turning a corner in San Bernardino.
She suffered severe facial injuries and “some injuries to her wrists,” the sheriff said.
Deputy Injured During Struggle With Suspect
