District Attorney Palm Beach County – WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach County’s top prosecutor is not seeking a fourth term.

Dave Aronberg, who has served as Palm Beach State’s Attorney for the past 11 years, announced Monday that his third term will be his last.

“I love this job and am grateful for the opportunity to serve my community as attorney general since my first election in 2012.” – Aronberg said in a statement. “Nothing lasts forever and this position is not a lifelong career. Therefore, I will not run for a fourth term in 2024.”

Aronberg, 52, was previously a Democrat in the Florida Senate and was the Florida attorney general’s “drug czar” before being elected attorney general.

“I am grateful to have such an incredible team that has worked tirelessly towards our primary goal of protecting public safety. “We have always kept politics out of our decision-making and focused on our core mission of prosecuting violent and career criminals while protecting victims of crime,” Aronberg said. “The result has been a dramatic improvement in conviction rates and strengthened working relationships with local, state and federal agencies. I am especially proud of our successful efforts to clean up addiction and sober living treatment centers, making Palm Beach County a model for the rest of the country.” and saved countless lives from the opioid epidemic.”

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach County’s top homicide prosecutor and former state’s attorney has been appointed to two judgeships.

Reid Scott has been named a judge of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit and Danielle Sherriff has been named a district court judge, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Wednesday.

Since 2006, Scott has served as an assistant state’s attorney in Palm Beach County. In 2021, he was promoted to lead Attorney General Dave Aronberg’s homicide unit.

He is handling a case that arose after the departure of Judge Paige Kilbane, whom DeSantis appointed earlier this year to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in northeast Florida.

Since last year, the sheriff has been the attorney for the Palm Beach County School District. He previously worked at Lesser, Lesser, Landy & Smith and previously served as an assistant state’s attorney from 2008 to 2021, eventually becoming chief of the traffic homicide unit.

He fills a vacancy created by DeSantis’ elevation of Judge John Parnofiello from the district courthouse to the district court bench.
