Authorities have identified the man who died Monday in a high-speed crash that ended with a Maserati splitting in half near Long Beach Drive.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office, 42-year-old Joseph Testone Jr. A Maserati Quattroporte (2017) was the passenger. Police initially said Testo was a Buena Park resident, but business officials said he had a home address in Idaho.

The driver of the Maserati, a 54-year-old Long Beach resident, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash, police said. The driver remained in critical condition at a local hospital on Monday.
Around 6:55 am on Friday, the driver of a Maserati lost control while attempting a left turn from the outer traffic circle on the east Los Coyote diagonal, police said.
The car hit a tree with enough force to rip half of it off and left the wreckage in front of the In-N-Out Burger on Los Coyotes Diagonal.

Five people, including two 15-year-old boys, were killed and another seriously injured in a violent single-car crash on a Southern California freeway early Monday morning, authorities said.
The crash happened shortly after 4 am. on Interstate 710 in Long Beach, California Highway Patrol spokeswoman Angelia Gonzalez said.
Authorities said the Hyundai Sonata hit a shock absorber, known as a brace, in front of a concrete barrier and burst into flames.

Gonzalez said some people in the car were not wearing seat belts and some were thrown from the car.
The dead were identified as George Dobbs, 15, and Ariah Slemaker, 15, both of Long Beach. The other victims were not immediately identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Deadly California Crash Splits Car In Half, Kills Pedestrian On Sidewalk
A Huntington Beach police officer was seriously injured in a crash in Long Beach earlier this month, officials said.
Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman Allison Gallagher said in a statement that the collision happened at 2:30 a.m. December 7th. The officer was riding a motorcycle southbound on Bellflower Boulevard when a Toyota Scion attempted to make a U-turn at Asherton Street.
Officer Jeremy Roberts was on his way to work that afternoon. After the accident, he managed to give the phone to a bystander and asked him to call his wife, Katie Roberts, he wrote in an email to the Daily Pilot on Wednesday. He found his crashed motorcycle, and paramedics arrived moments later to take him to the hospital.
“I had to pull myself together before going into the Urea because I didn’t know what I was going to see when I walked in,” Katie Roberts said. “But I knew I had to keep it together for Jeremiah.”

She said paramedics surrounded the man on the bed with a bracelet around his neck and wires connecting him to various monitoring devices. But she was happy and seemed to know him.
“When the CT scan said there was no brain damage, I let out a sigh of relief, and then I rocked her legs and found out she was more comfortable,” Katie Roberts said.

The driver of the Toyota cooperated with investigators and showed no signs of intoxication the day of the crash, Gallagher said. It did not appear that speed or distraction caused the driver to crash.

A police chase ended in a nine-car crash in Long Beach on Tuesday night that reportedly killed one person and injured eight others.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, the fatal collision occurred near Pacific Coast Highway and 2nd Street.
According to OnScene.TV, Seal Beach police began chasing a suspect who was driving recklessly. In addition to the male suspect driving the sedan, there was a female passenger and an infant in the car, KTLA-TW reported.

Seal Beach police told the news agency that after an officer tried to pull the car over near 5th Street and Marina Drive, it fled on PCH and was chased by officers.
