Car Accident San Diego Today – The crash was reported at 12:49 a.m. on the southbound San Diego Freeway at Carmel Valley Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

SAN DIEGO – A 52-year-old woman was killed and four others were seriously injured in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 5 in the Carmel Valley area Tuesday morning, authorities said.

The crash happened just after 12:50 a.m. on southbound I-5 at Carmel Valley Road near State Route 56, California Highway Patrol Trooper Salvador Castro said.

A 42-year-old man was driving a Dodge Magnum northbound in the southbound lane when he collided head-on with a Honda Civic, Castro said. After the first collision, a Ford pickup truck driven by a 32-year-old man hit the Dodge.

A 52-year-old woman who was driving the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. His name is being withheld pending notification of his family.

All three drivers and a passenger of the Honda were taken to hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

All lanes of southbound I-5 were rerouted to SR-56 and the Carmel Valley on-ramp to southbound I-5 was closed while the crash was investigated. Traffic was reopened around 06:00.

Around 1 p.m., a 61-year-old man was driving a 2018 Lexus RX350 SUV eastbound in the 4500 block of Market Street. SDPD Officer John Battle said the 63-year-old driver of a 1993 Nissan Maxima crossed the median and crashed into a Lexus in the eastbound lane.

Firefighters with the San Diego Fire and Rescue Department had to use the jaws of life to free the 63-year-old man. The man later died of his injuries at a hospital, according to SDPD.

Officer Battle said a passenger in the Lexus felt chest pains, but the driver and passenger were uninjured.

Michael Comfort, who was nearby when the accident happened, said: “I was inside the house and heard a loud bang, like tires screeching on the pavement.”

Comfort added that he saw firefighters using the Jaws of Life tool to extract a deceased person from one of the cars.

“I saw them tearing off the hoods of cars, I saw them on top of cars in the middle of the road. There were people trapped in the cars and they were giving CPR to the people they were trying to save. “They got out of the car,” Comfort said.

One person died in a rollover crash that closed a portion of State Highway 94 near downtown San Diego Friday morning.

The incident was reported just after 4 a.m. when a Honda Accord and a Ford F-250 collided on westbound SR-94 near northbound Interstate 5, according to the San Diego Police Department (SDPD). As a result of the impact and investigation, Caltrans closed the westbound lanes of SR-94, but the highway reopened at 7:30 a.m.

Sergeant Josh Nelson of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) said a preliminary investigation revealed the driver of the Ford was driving at a high rate of speed and rear-ended the Honda, causing the truck to overturn. Sergeant Nelson said the truck driver died at the scene and the Honda driver suffered minor injuries.

Four Dead After Rollover Crash On Sr 94

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Four people were ejected and killed in a Thanksgiving Day crash on State Route 94 outside of downtown San Diego.

The single-vehicle crash happened around 2:24 a.m. at the intersection of eastbound SR-94 and State Route 15 near Home Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officials at the scene said a black BMW M3 carrying five people left downtown when the driver lost control and crashed into an embankment, then overturned several times. Several witnesses told CHP officials they believed the car was reaching speeds of at least 160 mph.

Four people were ejected onto the motorway and the ABC understands at least one of the victims was hit by another passing vehicle.

The four ejected victims were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. CHP officials identified the victim as the driver, a 26-year-old La Mesa man. A 35-year-old man from Chula Vista. 33 year old woman. A 20-year-old woman from National City.

A 22-year-old passenger from San Marcos was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. CHP officials told ABC that the survivor, who was sitting on the right passenger side, was the only passenger wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

In response to the incident, eastbound lanes of SR-94 were closed and traffic was diverted onto southbound SR-95.

The crash investigation is in the initial stages, but CHP officials at the scene told ABC they believe the crash was likely related to drunken driving. Hospitalized After Sr 52 Crash

A driver was killed in a crash that closed several lanes of traffic for several hours after a car went airborne on State Route 94 near Golden Hill in San Diego Saturday morning.

At approximately 8:51 a.m. Saturday, the driver, who has not yet been identified, was driving a Mini Cooper at the interchange from westbound SR-94 to northbound Interstate 15 when his car left the roadway to the left and collided with a concrete wall.

The car then veered to the right, hit another concrete wall and flew off the freeway intersection, according to the California Highway Patrol.

During the flight, the Mini Cooper struck a Caltrans exit sign, landed on the roof of a 2015 Nissan Murano traveling westbound on SR-94, then struck the roadway and was fully engulfed in flames.

The driver of the Mini Cooper died and the two passengers in the Nissan Murano were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, according to the CHP.

The San Diego CHP office is currently investigating the crash, but it is not yet known if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
