Community Credit Union Des Moines – The Commonwealth Electric Company Midwest team in Des Moines, IA is working on the final parts of the First Class Community Credit Union renovation, along with general contractor Neumann Brothers Construction. The interior of First Class in West Des Moines, IA sustained water damage during a storm that produced golf ball sized hail. The interior of the bank suffered significant water damage as more than 100 locations on the roof were affected by the hail.
The bank remained open during the renovation process; the offices and car counters are still in use. The project consisted of the complete demolition of the interior and the installation of new ducts, wiring, lights, light controls and power units. The Commonwealth Limited Energy team completely renewed the structured wiring system and installed a new fire alarm system. Despite some difficulties, the project was completed on time.

Collins Corporate Headquarters Updates
Key elements of the design include providing divisible space for maximum flexibility of use and function, entrance bay access, audiovisual, acoustic, electrical, lighting and low voltage systems appropriate to function and use of space. A new food service equipment storage or staging area will be added to support the new banquet facilities. The design incorporated and utilized existing building automation and MEP systems.
The design and reconstruction of the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center was completed along with the interior renovations of the Veterans Memorial Auditorium. Originally built in 1954, the venue was partially renovated with the addition of the West Auditorium in the mid-1980s. The renovations focused on improving public circulation, accessible access, creating outdoor event spaces, commemorating an existing private monument, and renewing the plaza’s vegetation. The aim was to create a large yet intimate event space, using soft surrounds and plants to define the dynamic space for both small and large events. A special space outside the event area has also been created for small conversations and individual reflections.
The project presented challenges in terms of logistics and time. Chief among these was the need for the center to remain operational and fully functional throughout all phases of this renovation. Creative planning and attention to the project schedule enabled the team to overcome these challenges.
