The Clark County Coroner’s Office has identified the two women killed in a shooting at a Southeast Las Vegas convenience store Thursday.

Human remains were found near French Mountain on Monday, Las Vegas police and the Clark County coroner’s office confirmed.

Police Investigating North Austin Motorcycle Crash

Just after 1:30 p.m., LVMPD received a report of a fatal motorcycle accident near Rancho Drive and Sunset Drive.

According to investigators, a 2012 Yamaha FZ8 was traveling south on Rancho Drive and passed several vehicles near Sunset Drive, while a 2005 Honda Accord was traveling south on Rancho Drive in the right lane south of Sunset Drive.

Police said the accident occurred when the motorcyclist slowly swerved from the left to the right lane to pass vehicles, causing the front of the Yamaha to collide with the rear of the Honda. The rider was ejected from the Yamaha and came to rest on the road.

Medical personnel who reached the scene transported the driver to UMC in trauma due to serious injuries. She was identified on Tuesday as 34-year-old Stephanie Vereb.

Weber was eastbound on Sahara Avenue when he collided with a Honda Civic as he turned left onto Miller Lane from Sahara’s westbound lanes at 3:15 p.m., police officers said.

Weber was ejected from his vehicle on impact. He was rushed to University Medical Center, where doctors pronounced him brought dead.

Metro police closed the eastbound and westbound lanes of Sahara between Cimarron Road and Buffalo Drive after the incident, Officer Laura Meltzer said. An alert from the Regional Transport Commission showed both lanes of Sahara traffic reopened around 7:30 p.m.

Fatal motorcycle accidents have risen this year, according to Metro Police data. From Jan. 1 to Oct. 1, the department investigated 20 motorcyclist deaths, up from 16 deaths in 2012 during the same period. The number was even lower in 2011, when the department reported only 13 year dates.

Overall, however, traffic fatalities are 21 percent lower this year than in 2012. Today’s incident was the 77th fatality involving a vehicle in Las Vegas this year.

From March 28 to October 1, one of the city’s second most dangerous intersections was Sahara Boulevard and Rainbow Boulevard, located about a kilometer east of today’s collision. During that time, 11 wrecks were reported at the site, in which people were injured.

By comparison, the most dangerous intersection was Charleston and Lamb Boulevard, where 13 injuries were reported from vehicle collisions.

Increasing Car Crashes

The accident happened around 2:50 p.m. Near North Fifth Street and Rome Boulevard. A motorcycle was traveling northbound on Fifth Street at a high rate of speed while a black Hyundai Elantra was eastbound on Rome Boulevard. According to North Las Vegas police spokesman Alex Cuevas, the Hyundai crossed the southbound and northbound lanes and the motorcycle struck the car.

He said the motorcyclist died at the scene. The driver of the Hyundai was taken to Centennial Hills Hospital Medical Center. The driver’s condition was not known until Tuesday afternoon.

Police have arrested a suspect in a fatal shooting Saturday in the northeast Las Vegas Valley.

Dead In Southwest Las Vegas Valley Crash

The Clark County Coroner’s Office has identified the two women killed in a shooting at a Southeast Las Vegas convenience store Thursday.

Police say the shooting happened around 4:00 p.m. Near Wilkinson Way and Dillon Avenue, a few blocks from East Lake Mead Boulevard and North Pecos Road.

On February 4 at approximately 11:45 p.m., police officers responded to a residence in the 1200 block of Burnham Avenue for a woman with a head injury.

Five more suspects have been arrested in connection with the killing of 29-year-old Darian Gonzalez on January 2.
