DES MOINES, Iowa — Des Moines International Airport plans to expand its nonstop flight catalog this summer, with American Airlines announcing daily nonstop service to New York’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA).

Starting June 2, American Airlines will offer weekly flights to LGA departing at 6:30am CET.

This will become the second Des Moines International airline, besides Delta, to offer direct flights to LGA.
“The new nonstop service is a win for travelers and a win for our state,” said Des Moines Airport Authority CEO Kevin Foley. “Connectivity is the key to a vibrant is vital to the economy; this new service demonstrates the growing demand for leisure and business aviation services in Central Iowa.
Daily flights will be operated by Embraer ERJ-175s, which can carry up to 76 passengers per flight. According to the US website, passengers will pay more than $400 per ticket.
“American Airlines is excited to connect Des Moines International Airport to New York’s LaGuardia Airport this summer,” said Philippe Puech, director of domestic network planning at American Airlines. “This new daily flight expands our service from DSM Fly to six destinations this summer. We’re excited to offer customers more ways to experience all that New York City has to offer and give local residents more access to America’s global network.
