St. Louis, I knew there was a painting in the main post office. Honestly, I thought it would be nice to have some pictures. Little did I know that the Post Office in St. Louis decorated with not one, but nine walls. Yes, you read that right, 9 photos. They are also the larger 9 x 29 foot types found in larger buildings. Needless to say, I was overwhelmed by the sheer size of the St. Louis Post Office. Louis.

Seeing all these works of art in one place really took me back. For me, the main purpose of visiting the post office is to get a personal wall or other equipment. So, I found 9 amazing paintings of St. Louis. I don’t even remember how long I was here. I continued to draw and wonder who knows how much. It was obvious how interested I was, and after a while the guard came to me. No, they didn’t take me to jail and ask me why I took pictures all the way through the building. It made sense that I was only interested in art and murals.

Apparently it was a normal occurrence because something was in his hand when he approached me. After we entered, he handed me a five-page document describing each picture. I thanked him for his kindness and generosity. Apparently this has happened before, so Security has published this worksheet for those who are interested. It’s great!

Post Office in St. Louis Missouri – Division 10 St. Louis Post Office Louis Missouri – Part 2

David W. Gates Jr. is an award-winning author who writes about murals and other art found in post offices across the country. Old Post Office and Customs House in St. Louis, Missouri is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. One of the tallest historical buildings in the Department of Services and General Services. Art of the Second Empire in 1872 exists. The building houses the state appeals court, the state attorney general’s office, a university campus, a library and a community newspaper.

Restoring the building was a daunting task. GSA, the Department of the Interior, FEMA’s National Advisory Council, and several historical observers participated in some way in reviewing or approving the design efforts. The nearly 3-year design and approval process was thorough and included careful evaluation of lighting upgrades and retrofits.

The top of the building, including their hanging stonework, comes alive after dark with well-placed lighting and soft lights. The large open space of this height is directly illuminated by floodlights based on street columns and illuminated from the surrounding areas. Low-power LED lights are integrated into various architectural details, revealing decorative elements, including the continuous growth line that runs along the roof of the building. The artwork emerges after dark with accent lighting on the ceiling for the first time in the building’s 100+ year history.

The interior courtroom and ceiling feature chandeliers and other restored features with modern light source technology. The increase in general light is carefully carried out with hidden light. Lighting controls in all key interior spaces have been updated to provide programming flexibility to meet the needs of the 21st century.
