Watch out for the ’54 Pacific. I have seen this car before with another seller and I recently contacted this seller. This car is a split block. This is a crack in the customer’s base that is covered with epoxy or other sealants. When I talked to the previous owner a few years ago, I had to remove it because he said it was a “small leak”. He later admitted that he knew the block had been hacked and sent me pictures. The dealer now told me it was “stuck” so I asked if the engine had been replaced. I don’t know if the client is different now from the one I worked with a few years ago. He seems to have had the car for a while and seems to be talking the same way as the guy I talked to earlier. The current customer said in an email;
“The engine block is not sealed because I don’t have to do that. Epoxy or something used to seal the crack I think. I have 30 miles on it. that’s it, eh I go to you at least because you will see some changes in the block.
That doesn’t mean don’t buy, just know what you’re getting into so you can make an informed decision about the price and performance you need. Buyer beware. If he hasn’t told you this, is there anything else he hasn’t told you?
Repairing water cracks is easy but finding and repairing other cracks requires extensive removal and repair.
