ATLANTA – Two people were killed and another injured in a fatal crash Thursday morning in northwest Atlanta, the Georgia State Patrol said.

Atlanta police officers attempted to stop a Toyota Rav 4 on Northside Drive at 17th Street. They said when the car sped off, the driver ran their right signal “as a driver to stop” and ran a red light, colliding with a Mitsubishi Outlander. The crash happened near the intersection of Northside Drive and 14th Street.

“It took about 37 seconds from the first attempted traffic stop to the crash,” APD said Thursday around 1:30 p.m.
The ministry still does not explain why they started the Toyota Rav 4 route.
A woman who works in the Crystal neighborhood down the road from the crash said she wasn’t sure what the noise was so she looked outside.
“I heard a big bang. “I don’t know if anybody hit anything,” Lori Ramon said. “But when I looked out the window, I saw the crash over here, like a big bang.

The driver, Guillermo Bracho Barrios, 39, and a passenger in the second car, Twin Jerome Jackson, 27, were both killed, the Georgia State Patrol added. Three other passengers in the back seat were taken to Grady Hospital and have not been identified.
A spokesman for the ride-hailing company said in a statement: “We are deeply saddened by the news of this tragic incident.”
Meanwhile, GSP said that the suspects who were in the car at the red light were seriously injured and taken to Grady Hospital.
