Can anyone help me with replacing this drive? I am trying to connect a 15b turbo to a h55f transmission. The most common diesel swap here is a b-series Cummins with a Dodge or Ford transmission, the 15bt is relatively unknown here in the US, but I’m a Toyota die-hard and wouldn’t install an American engine in my TOYOTA. I think the hard part of the exchange, which is the export of this power plant from Japan, is over. Now I just need information on what bell housing, spline, clutch and flywheel to use for this. I know for a fact it’s a lot of grinding and sweating, but it’s the easiest for me

You need an H55f from a B diesel or an H55F conversion with an input shaft from an F engine for a B diesel. I forget if you need a watch case.

Is the Tacoma 4WD? If it’s 2WD, you can use the Dyna/Coaster transmission that sits behind the 15B. H50 or H51? Some are top shifters and some are side shifters, but it’s been a while since I looked at one.

Big thanks. Tacoma currently has 5vzfe with r150 2wd. I’m planning on doing a 4wd turbodiesel, I guess I need to figure out what front axle to use and also what t-body to use, I don’t know if a split t-body will fit my truck. Too many to count

Can you get an old case for the 15b and have it modified with your old r150 case and use it? People do this with great success with conversions

If you’re doing 80 axles, this is probably the way to go, but you’ll need to get an older non-Tacoma T bag that has travelers on it. Or run the H55f/splitcase which is heavier and bolts to the 15BT

Oh yeah, I’ll have to make it a 4×4, that’s for sure. I already spent money on 15bt and h55f. So I shoot 100% 4×4.

There are three series of single cam engines, F, H and B. You have an H series crankcase so it came from a 12HT or 2H. F and H share the same input axis, B is different. You also need a B-series watch case, which is different. What I can’t tell you for sure is if the watch case works for the 3B behind the 15B, I think it will, but do your homework. In conclusion, you need to replace the input shaft and the clock housing. You should be able to find B-inputs in ads very easily, as many convert them to HZ and F-inputs for conversions.
