Colleges In Raleigh Durham Nc – Home to Duke University, UNC-Chapel Hill, and NC State, among many other universities and colleges, the Triangle attracts the best minds in the U.S. and around the world, contributing to the region’s highly productive workforce. There are three HBCUs, the largest women’s college in the Southeast, and four seminaries. The Triangle also includes several community colleges and technical schools. With more than 100,000 students currently enrolled at area colleges and universities, we must be doing something right.

Duke University: About 16,700 undergraduate and graduate students are enrolled at Duke, located in Bull. Medicine, law, engineering, business and theory are among the university’s most recognized programs. But it’s not all academics: the men’s basketball program is one of the best in the country.

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill: The Triangle was founded in 1789 and is America’s first public university. 231 years later, Carolina has 30,000 students. Its medical, business and law schools consistently rank among the nation’s elite. In 2019, the university awarded $1.153 billion in research funding.

Even non-athletes can feel compelled to take sides in Duke-Carolina sports rivalry. Like the Duke Blue Devils, the Carolina Tar Heels are nationally ranked in basketball.

North Carolina State University: Raleigh’s 66,000 undergraduate and graduate students make NC State the state’s largest university. Originally established as a land-grant institution focused on engineering and agriculture, the university is a major public research university with $541 million in research and development expenditures for 2019. It has a strong track record as a great generator of new technologies and a successful and talented startup.

Campbell University: A small Christian university founded in 1887, Campbell currently enrolls approximately 6,000 undergraduate, graduate and continuing education students. The law school is located in downtown Raleigh. The university’s main campus, along with the School of Osteopathic Medicine – North Carolina’s first and only osteopathic medical school – is located 45 minutes south of downtown Raleigh.

St. Augustine’s University (north Carolina)

Meredith College: Meredith is a private, independent women’s college located in West Raleigh. With 2,100 students, Meredith is the largest women’s college in the Southeast.

William Pace University is a 154-year-old liberal arts university located north of Raleigh. WPU admits 700 students annually with a student-faculty ratio of 15:1.

Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary: Founded in 1950, Southeastern Baptist, located in Wake Forest, has more than 4,700 students. Southeastern College was founded in 1994 as an undergraduate school of the seminary.

North Carolina Central University: NCCU, located in Durham, was the first public liberal arts university for black Americans and home to more than 8,000 students. The center has expanded its research efforts with programs such as the Biomanufacturing Research Institute and Technology Enterprise (BRITE), which focuses on health-related research and degree-based workforce development.

Shaw University: The first HBCU in the South, this private, historically black liberal arts institution is located in downtown Raleigh. Founded in 1865, Shaw enrolls approximately 1,200 students each year.

St. Augustine College: Founded in 1867, this historically black college is located in downtown Raleigh. Only 1,000 students are enrolled per year.

Wake Technical Community College is the largest community college in the state with six campuses, three study centers, numerous community sites and online learning opportunities. Wake Tech is accredited and offers more than 200 degrees, diplomas and certificates that prepare students for college or immediate employment.

Durham Technical Community College serves students from seven universities in Durham and Orange counties, while offering a variety of online courses. Durham Tech programs include arts, engineering, education, health technology, information technology, public safety and business administration.

Public Golf Courses In Raleigh, Durham, And Chapel Hill

The buildings of this small liberal arts school are spread across the city and offer many opportunities for inspiration. As a national arboretum, this structure is perfect for trails that showcase more than 3,000 trees and shrubs. Anyone visiting Durham can be inspired by the unique activities on Duke’s campus. Sarah P. Duke Gardens attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year to its Italian-style terraced gardens, flower garden, and koi pond lined with water lilies. -Visit the Duke Lemur Center, a world leader in the study, care and conservation of endangered mammals, for a one stop visit. For sports fans, Robert Trent Jones Sr. The Duke University Golf Club is recognized as one of the best in the Southeast, and the Duke Basketball Museum brings history to life every day.

Elon’s Botanical Gardens, Elon’s 656-acre campus is a nature lover’s paradise. Follow the campus tree map to find 125 trees within 1.25 miles of campus, visit the community garden and tour the school’s 15-acre solar farm, part of the Lowe Farm Environmental Center. Afterwards, head to the Oak House downtown for drinks and food, and browse some local shops, or pick up pastries for a picnic at Beth Schmidt Park, which has beautiful walking trails, a playground, and gardens. NC A&T is the nation’s largest HBCU. The university played an important role in the civil rights movement when four students threw a party at the Woolworth’s cafeteria in Greensboro in 1960, and today the site serves as the International Civil Rights Center and Museum. After visiting the museum, visit the Dudley Building on campus to see the A&T Four Memorial, which honors the freshmen along the way. Go in the fall and catch a football game to see the famous Blue and Gold Rally Machine, whose high-powered performances have kept fans on their feet for years.

The NCCU campus is on the National Register of Historic Places for a reason: It has been an important part of Durham’s history for more than 100 years. As you stroll among the historic buildings on campus, explore the new Centennial Chapel and Gardens, built in 2010 to celebrate the university’s 100th anniversary. The Durham Co-op Market is a great place to pick up some picnic gear before exploring the city.
