Health – Des Moines is excited to launch a new residency program. It is a three-year program with six participants each year. Changes include adult emergency rooms, pediatric emergency rooms, intensive care units, level I surgical services and more. Big changes will be made to Blank Children’s Hospital at Iowa Methodist Medical Center and Des Moines Health. The program is accredited by the ACGME and is sponsored and endorsed by our emergency physicians and hospital management.
Dr. grew up. Whitaker of Omaha, Nebraska, graduated from Creighton University School of Medicine. He completed his emergency medicine residency training at Indiana University, where he served as chief resident. With a passion for health education, Nash pursued a bachelor’s degree in health education at the University of Pennsylvania and earned an MBA from the Kelley School of Business. Nash held leadership positions in health education and administration before joining the health department as director of the new residency program. His professional interests include health education, performance improvement, and team building. Nash enjoys hunting, fishing and competitive skeet shooting. He spent most Saturdays in the fall watching Nebraska football games. He loves to travel the world with his fiancée Kelsey and never goes anywhere without his yellow British lab, Winston.
Dr. Kluesner received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame in 2008, majoring in biology and philosophy. He attended medical school at the University of Iowa Carver School of Medicine, earning degrees in business and international health, and enrolled at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics as a fourth-year student. . He is the vice chair of the Iowa Medical Society’s Legal and Ethics Committee and a member of the national ACEP Ethics Committee. In addition to his clinical work and management of the Emergency Medicine Residency Program, Dr. Kluesner is the Medical Director of the Emergency Department. Her professional interests include health ethics, humanities, health education, and performance improvement. He enjoys spending time with his wife and four sons in their comfortable home in Des Moines, where they have lived since 2015. This includes many outdoor activities, woodworking programs and barbecue parties. They are known to Notre Dame fans.
PhD. Jennett earned a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Iowa State University in 2010. She graduated from the University of Iowa Carver School of Medicine in 2014. After medical school, he completed his emergency medicine residency at the University of Wisconsin, where he worked in a variety of roles. After his stay, Dr. Jennett has a fellowship in emergency medical services (EMS) helicopters and serves as an aviation physician at the University of Wisconsin. In addition to his clinical work and serving as program director for the Emergency Medicine Residency Program, Dr. Jennett is a paramedic with Osceola Fire Department EMS. His professional interests include pre-hospital medicine with an emphasis on HEMS, aviation, and medical education. He lives in Norwalk, south of Des Moines, and enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. In his spare time, his hobbies include electronic prototyping, 3D printing, and following Iowa State sports.
