Black Small Business and Community Nonprofit Clinics is a nonprofit organization that provides convenient and affordable commercial legal services to small businesses and nonprofit organizations. After a very successful program in Nashville, a second clinic launched in April 2022 in Birmingham as Associate Counsel and Legal Services of Alabama (LSA), one of the region’s leading legal aid agencies for the transition to civil justice in the region. The state recognizes its commitment to social and economic justice.
The Douglas Arant Public Interest Partnership, recognized for its founder’s dedication to community service, offers members a summer opportunity to work with a public service organization of their choice, with the approval of the firm’s Pro Bono Committee. Some of the eligible organizations approved as partners in our program are the Southern Poverty Law Center, Equal Justice Initiative of Alabama (Death Representative), and Legal Services of Alabama. Company recipients work at least six weeks in an office and at least four weeks for organizations of their choice, while still being compensated by the company.
