SAN ANTONIO – One person was hospitalized and another was taken into custody after a three-vehicle crash on the city’s south side Monday night, San Antonio police said.

A black SUV hit a white sedan in the westbound lanes of Highway 90. At that point, police said, both vehicles locked up and spun, colliding with a third vehicle before leaving the roadway with a tree.
The driver of the sedan, a man in his 20s, was trapped inside the car and firefighters had to extricate him, police said. He was taken to Brooke Army Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The passenger of the car remained unharmed.
The DAP said the female driver of the SUV was detained on suspicion of DUI and, depending on the severity of the injuries, could be charged with assault while intoxicated. The woman’s name and age were not released.
Authorities did not release the condition of the third driver. The San Antonio Police Department, San Antonio Fire Department and EMS responded to the call. A man killed after driving into oncoming traffic on San Antonio’s south side has been identified as police have not identified the man but believe he is in his 20s.

SAN ANTONIO – Update 07/22/21: The medical examiner has identified the man who died after crossing into oncoming southbound traffic as Sergio Valenzuela Jr.
A man has died after crossing into the oncoming lane of traffic and crashing into another southbound car, according to San Antonio police.
Officers say a man was driving a silver vehicle the wrong way in the northbound lanes in the 3700 block of Roosevelt Avenue.
The red truck was in the southbound lane when a silver vehicle crossed the road and hit the truck, police said.
Man Killed After Veering Into Oncoming Traffic On San Antonio’s South Side Identified
The driver of the silver car, believed to be in his 20s, died at the scene, police said.
The driver of the red truck was not injured. However, the front seat passenger suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution.
