Vintage Pickup Trucks For Sale By Owner – In the heart of the Midwest, the museum’s 37 classic trucks have been carefully cleaned, polished and prepared for sale after decades on display. At the end of March, customers from across the country will give these vehicles a chance in the city where John Deere is headquartered. Marrying truck culture, history and farming, the collection includes trucks from the 1906 open-cab Express Package to the iconic 1953 Sterling White Cabover truck. All will be sold one by one on the auction block by Mecum Auctions.
All these cars belonged to retired driver A.W. “Pop” Hayes, who built his truck-related dream property in Woodland, California. More than four decades ago, Hayes began collecting and restoring old trucks as a hobby. After he collected several examples, he opened a museum called the Hays Antique Truck Museum, and people came from all over the country to see it.

In 2013, part of the museum moved to the “Smallest City in the World:” National Automobile Museum in Reno, Nevada. Some of them are the first vehicles to be sold. I especially like the 1910 Reliance Model G3 2.5-ton stack truck, the progenitor of many of today’s GMC trucks. Its large radiator and International Harvester 135 cubic inch (2.2 liter) four-cylinder engine were its hallmarks, and it lived a simple life as a parade car in its later years. It will now be sold without reservation.

However, the 1930 Chevrolet Universal Roadster pickup completely disappointed me. Finished in blue with black accents, the roadster pickup features a soft top, wood steering wheel and Boyce moto-meter. Under the hood, a 194 cubic inch (3.2 liter) Stovebolt six-cylinder engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Interestingly, while it is designed as a convertible, its surface does not fold. It is a mystery.
It’s hard to say how much these will fetch when the roses finally hit, but you can bet they’ll be in the hands of serious collectors who will pay attention to their investment. Each of these examples is a treasured piece of American history that not only shows how far we’ve come, but how these automakers designed their cars. At the Mecum Auctions Fall Premier 2021 event next weekend in Illinois, Friday and Saturday will be all about tractors. We’re talking everything from a 1927 Rumeli Oil Pull M 20-35 to a 1937 John Deere A to a 1970 Minneapolis-Moline G1000 Vista Diesel and everything in between. Vintage toys will be sold with neon-emblazoned signs with messages like “Party at the Pool” and souvenir gold shots signed by the Charlie Daniels Band. The devil went to Illinois, it seems, looking for an auction thief.

Listen, I know 80’s and 90’s trucks are hot right now and whatever you’re looking for keep your eye on this awesome red 1948 Diamond T201 Dually Pickup. and a 1951 Mercury M1 pickup in a silver two-tone paint job. Or a 1930 Ford Model A roadster pickup with a quail mascot radiator.

There are many Cabover trucks for sale, including a Peterbilt or two and a few Kenworths from the ’70s that will take you back to when your dad used to talk on the CB radio.
You’ll find some oddities in the mix, like the 1961 Chevrolet Corvair 95 Rampside Pickup. It really looks like someone woke up my parents’ green Chevy pickup from the junkyard and removed the back two-thirds. It’s surprisingly interesting how it is. There is also a red 1956 Willy with a 226 cubic inch Super Hurricane L-head six-cylinder engine and 15-inch steel wheels.
If I had my way, I’d have a garage full of 1920-1950 era trucks like this one. For now, I will look at their photos here.
