Archery Shops Des Moines Iowa – DES MOINES, Iowa. For the first time since 2010 the USA Archery JOAD Target Nationals returns to Des Moines, IA July 12-16 and record numbers have been set.
The last time this event was held in Des Moines, over 230 archers participated. Thirteen years later and among the more than 850 archers present will be newly crowned nationals Olivia Dean, Dewey Hathaway and Sydney Sullenberger, who won the World Archery Youth Championships in Limerick, Ireland last week.

Iowa’s capital city will host a one-two-stage competition, a single-elimination tournament for the top 64 in each division, with the added excitement of a team selection round.
Held at the James W. Cowney Soccer Park, the five-day event includes U13 to U21 divisions for archers, compound, fixed pin, recurve and paracompound open, repeat open and W1 shooters. All participants will shoot the same distance, twice 72 arrow qualification rounds according to their age group, gender and bow type (category).
After official training and registration on Wednesday, USA Archery welcomes archers and their families to a Kick-Off Social with local flavor, music, entertainment, giveaways and more.

The 2023 USA Archery JOAD Target Nationals is a mandatory event to promote the USA Archery Youth United States Archery Teams and is an event eligible for the Regional Elite and National Elite U18 programs.
Many colleges and universities also recognize this event and offer scholarships to top finishers so that promising young talent can complete higher education while continuing to teach and compete in the USA Archery College Archery Program.
The JOAD Target Nationals is the perfect event for all archers, from those looking to experience the national stage for the first time to those who dream of shooting the world as part of Team USA. Hundreds of archers from all over the country descended on Des Moines for the first youth archery tournament.
