That was my thought when I saw that it was so far from the throttle body, could it be causing the reading delay at low airspeed (idle) and causing your idle problem?
The AGS isn’t much further from the MG than the Miata. I suspect that if you put a filter on the IAC it would blow uneven air – it would be inefficient. Oh, and disconnect the air vent to make it easier to fix. Instead of taking the engine control apart I’m going to fix it. It may only take an afternoon to fix the shortcuts. The lack of a heater may be a problem for some people.
It won’t be a fast car – more weight and the same engine as a 1990 Miata. But it’s much faster than it was before the conversion!
Yes a nice smooth ride, and agree a nice turbo would make it even more fun. The 1.6 will be more fun but more powerful than the 1.8 MG engine in this tough car. But love the look and patina. I wish my spitfire looked like this. For value, you can get his 5K if you steer and drive right, but with the problems he describes it looks like it might be a bit much. You’ve done a lot, but there’s more to do. The “better for the track” comment is ridiculous because this is 100% a street car, not a road car!
