Fatal Car Accident Virginia Today – Virginia State Police have identified the three people killed in a crash on Interstate 95 that occurred when the driver crashed into traffic on the express lanes. Part of the highway was closed for almost seven hours.

Three people were killed Thursday in a four-car crash on Interstate 95 in Dale City, Virginia, that closed the road for nearly seven hours.
Fatal Two Car Crash Being Investigated By State Police
Virginia State Police said a 2008 Dodge Avenger sedan traveling north on I-95 reached speeds of up to 80 mph when state troopers attempted to pull the vehicle over shortly after 4:30 p.m.
The Dodge continued north on I-95, entering the fast lanes open to southbound traffic only, when it smashed through lighted freeway gates at the entrance, police said.
As the Dodge traveled through the steep lanes, it collided with a southbound Ford Ranger pickup, overturning it. Two other cars crashed into the Dodge, causing it to burst into flames.
Stephanie T. Morton, 46, of Richmond, who was driving the Dodge Avenger, died at the scene. Police say it is unknown if Morton was wearing a seat belt.
Victims Of Virginia Beach Triple Fatal Crash Identified
A passenger in the Dodge, Tia O. Porter, 26, also of Richmond, was not wearing a seat belt and died after being ejected from the car.
The driver of the third car was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver and passenger in the fourth car suffered minor injuries at the scene of the crash, police said.
Dave Dildine said northbound and southbound traffic was backed up for more than seven miles on the main line throughout the evening.

Emergency traffic was backed up on several other roads in Prince William County, including Prince William Parkway, Dale Boulevard, Minnyville Road, Ballyton Road and Route 1.

Two people involved in the crash were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, Fairfax County police posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Police: Man Killed, Teen Injured In Minnieville Road Crash
“It’s heartbreaking, no doubt, and my heart goes out to the families of the dead and the injured,” said Joseph Tso, a teenager who lives nearby.
The accident happened at Braddock Road and Bradfield Drive. Braddock Road was closed in both directions at King David Boulevard while detectives investigated, but is now open.
“I was just in my house, the window was open and there was a huge accident,” said Tso.
Detectives initially determined that the driver of a 2006 Lexus RX 330i was attempting to turn left from Bradfield Drive onto Braddock Road westbound. The driver of the Lexus collided with the driver of a 2024 BMW X6 traveling eastbound on Braddock Road, causing the crash. There were five passengers in the Lexus and two passengers in the BMW. Everyone was taken to hospital. Three had life-threatening injuries.
Truck Driver Identified In Fatal Beltway Crash
One of the passengers in the Lexus, Yun Hu, 72, of Annandale, was pronounced dead at the hospital. In the days following the accident, two more victims died from their injuries. Police identified the victims as 63-year-old Hong Tong and 68-year-old Yan Zhou. Both were passengers in a Lexus RX 330 at the time of the accident.
Four passengers were treated for life-threatening injuries and released a short time later. Speed and alcohol were not factors in the accident.
People who live in the area say they are surprised to see it, but say motorists have been driving on the road for a long time.
“The speed limit in Braddock is 45, but most of the time people don’t drive 45 in Braddock because it’s a freeway and you have to be very careful,” said one resident, Tony Pham.

“I know there are a lot of speeders on that stretch of Braddock Road all the time,” Tso said.
According to data reviewed by V-DOT: In 2023, four accidents, including two with injuries, were reported on the same block near Braddock and King Davis Blvd. A total of 15 accidents occurred on this half-mile stretch (Gene to Rolling Road).
Pham said he has problems on the road and tries to kill time by driving and taking turns in the area.
“I turn left on that street, sometimes turn left on Braddock to go somewhere, and I’ve noticed it’s very dangerous,” said Pham.

After Pham and other neighbors saw another accident, they said they were even more concerned. One man mentioned leaving town in a hurry.
“I’ve seen some people have close calls, even I’ve had close calls,” Pham said. “I’ll be more careful from now on.”

A tractor-trailer driver has been charged in connection with a violent crash on Interstate 95 in Stafford County, Virginia, that killed two drivers and closed part of the highway for hours Wednesday. The driver was carrying 78,000 pounds of beer and was trying to change lanes when he hit a car, authorities said.
Tractor driver Willman G. Andrews, 58, of Carrollton was charged with reckless driving, Virginia State Police said in an update Thursday.
The victims are Johnathon L. Booth, 50, of Fredericksburg, and Kevin M. Paddeu, 67, of Quinton, police said.

According to the preliminary investigation, Andrew was driving a 2022 Freightliner tractor-trailer in the center lane and attempted to change lanes in the right lane. While doing so, he struck a 2014 Nissan Altima driven by Booth.
The force of the collision threw the tractor trailer and Altima into the left lane. They struck a guardrail and the tractor-trailer crashed into the Altima while the 2010 Subaru Forester Padeau was driving.

Booth and Padeau were pronounced dead at the scene. Andrew, the tractor driver, suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital.
He was later taken into custody, charged, brought before a judge and released on unsecured bond. It was not immediately clear if he has an attorney.
The crash and investigation closed the northbound lanes of I-95 for about five hours during the morning commute to DC and as travelers tried to get home after the Fourth of July.

A fatal crash involving an overturned tractor-trailer delayed Interstate 95 northbound and closed Exit 136 in northern Virginia during the morning rush hour Wednesday.
Two people died in the accident. The driver of the truck was injured and taken to hospital.
