Fancy Restaurants In Des Moines Iowa

Fancy Restaurants In Des Moines Iowa – Patrick Bateman endures mental torture when he doesn’t get a reservation at the cozy New York restaurant Dorsia. Well, we’d like to hope that’s not necessarily the case in Oak Park. So let’s not get into “American Psyche” just because it might be hard to make a table right now. However, Oak Park will be ready to serve you when you have the chance to dine with them, elevating the definition of “Iowa love” with class and poise. In the meantime, here’s what to expect, our overall first impressions and experiences.

Oak Park is a newly constructed building located just off Ingersoll Street, with beautiful dark wood and brick decor and light furnishings that brighten up the interior space. A long dining room stretches along the windows, with evenly spaced white tables and serving stations neatly recessed into the walls and equipped with freshly polished glass. At the corner of the hall is a white French-style door that opens to the new dining room.

The building’s “hub” consists of a vaulted ceiling and a bar area with additional booths, giving the space a cozy feel with low lighting and a dark environment. The pendant lamp provides beautiful lighting and highlights the intricate meadow-style wallpaper paneling along the wall. In the hall that connects the kitchen with the dining room, there is a large and bright wall of wine.

Family Friendly Places To Eat In Des Moines, Iowa

Oak Park serves cocktails, beers and a wide selection of wines. They also have a wide selection of unique N/A drinks for those who want to partake. To start we ordered a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc (Starlab, Marlborough, New Zealand), a Penicillin cocktail and a glass of Sangiovese. To our surprise, when we asked for water, we were given the choice of San Pelligrino or Fiji (to name a few), but we chose the delicious notes of Des Moines’ tap water.

After ordering drinks and dinner, we had a good chat. Our waiter returned to our table with small racks of yellow curry potato “croquettes” to start the evening. It was a complimentary surprise, perfectly placed, rich and warm with the spicy curry flavors.

When it comes to cooking, I’m a self-described “try everything once” kind of person. There are only a few foods I’m not particularly fond of (and I’m 99% sure I could name them all with just two hands). Don’t worry, nothing in Oak Park is included in this account.

The Oak Park Squash and King Crab Bisque caught the eye of a few of us. After all, it is autumn and there are plenty of pumpkins – we had to try it. The waiters brought out each bowl with a piece of lobster, and then, almost magically, brought out small ladles, and very carefully the bisco in each bowl, as if by design. This rich and creamy dish was the perfect balance of buttery crab and spicy flavor.

As both a seafood fan and a lover of culinary intrigue, Skate Meunière piqued my interest. The main course is “roasted tray with champagne table blanc, lemon jam and chicory salad”. After googling what kind of fish skatefish was and hearing our waiter rave about it, I had to order it. This thin, flaky, buttery white fish melts in your mouth. Beurre blanc and lemon confit give it a soft and spicy appearance. I couldn’t recommend this enough.

The following appetizer was ordered with my scotch on the table. Glazed cutlet with bacon (pictured below), salmon and spaghetti with charcoal and wagyu bolognese. There were many positive comments about the food, the way the flavors were combined and the overall amazing innovation of each dish. They listed the local partners they work with to source the freshest ingredients, from patio meat producers, local breweries and even home gardens.

Going into this experience, I had no plans to order dessert. However, the combination of external peer pressure and a nagging sweet tooth creates an inner voice that is hard to deny. I ordered the poached pear sorbet, which is described on their menu as “poached pear sorbet, dairy-free almond thyme anise, poached pear, red wine reduction and gluten-free crunch with cinnamon sugar.” Now normally I would order any chocolate, but I wanted something with a bit of spice and a nod to the fall weather – this was definitely it.

The pear sorbet was smooth, especially mixed with the almond and thyme ice cream. Poached pears in reduced red wine provide a sweet finish. Can we admire the craftsmanship of this little dessert? Other desserts ordered for this table include the chocolate cake and Oak Park Donuts, both of which received rave reviews for their rich and sweet flavors.

Did we mention they have a cooking experience with a private chef? If you’re a fan of The Menu, this is every foodie’s dream (with a happier ending, of course).
