Earlier this month (November 2020), MeetingBird, a trusted free scheduling tool that I’ve been recommending to all my clients and communities for the past two years, announced it was shutting down to merge with Front.
MeetingBird is a great free scheduling and booking tool that lets you set up your calendar to accept bookings for meetings or discovery calls and offers automated emails and reminders, as well as an easy way to embed a customizable calendar on your website.
This is a big loss for those who want an automated way to receive new bookings and calls from healthcare companies on a simple and free platform.
Since the announcement, many people have asked me what alternatives I would recommend since MeetingBird is gone.

Various software tools on the market, including booking calendars, also offer other built-in features such as email marketing, customer relationship management (CRM) functionality, and project/workflow management.
These features can be overwhelming if you’re just starting out and, in my opinion, are mostly unnecessary. You’ll probably spend days or weeks setting up some complicated (and potentially expensive) systems before you get a customer.
Start simply. You can onboard and communicate with your customers using a free email address, a basic calendar booking tool, and tools like Google Docs and SurveyMonkey. Everything to the next.

Warning I didn’t mention the meetingbird merged front end. Because the frontend is marketed as a “customer communication platform” and the calendar function is only a small part of it.

However, since Acuity is integrated as part of the Squarespace website (which I use for my website), I thought it was only right to have everything in one place, and like Squarespace, the customer support is very good, fast, and easily accessible so answers are all you need to get started.
In the long run I think it will have a better ability to add more features and accept payments and process subscriptions.
