Fatal Accident In Florida Yesterday – One person was killed and several others were seriously injured in a crash in Collier County. The incident happened just before 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the 59-year-old female driver of the vehicle was traveling eastbound on US-41, known as Tamiami Trail near SR-29. A 52-year-old man was driving another vehicle with 3 passengers westbound on Tamiami Trail. A 47-year-old woman, a 10-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy were in the car with the man.

Everyone in the car was wearing a seat belt. The driver of the van, a 53-year-old woman, a 9-year-old boy, a 4-year-old boy, a 2-year-old boy and a 3-year-old boy were injured. The FHP report lists all of his injuries as “serious.”
While the van was traveling south on Highway 441, the Dodge Journey was traveling eastbound on East 147th Street, police said. According to the accident report, both vehicles entered the intersection at the same time.
The van veered toward the Journey, struck a northbound Toyota Corolla and Subaru Outback, and landed on top of the Corolla and Outback.

“Between the first and second collisions,” the passenger was ejected from the vehicle and was seriously injured. FHP said he was not wearing a seatbelt.
The trip also had a second crash, hitting a Nissan Altima after colliding with a car, bringing the total number of cars to five.
Of the incidents that followed, the collision between the van and Journey was the worst. In addition to the injuries to the special needs children and other passengers in the car, a 31-year-old man and two children aged seven and eleven were seriously injured.
The driver of the Corolla suffered minor injuries, the driver of the Outback was not injured, and the driver of the Altima suffered minor injuries.

A 17-year-old driver was killed Thursday when he crashed into a Florida City residence while fleeing from police, police said.
Images from Chopper 6 showed a black Mercedes with a yellow front and a large hole next to an apartment building in the area of 80th Avenue and Southwest 336th Street.
The incident began about 10 blocks north when officers with the Miami-Dade Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit attempted to pull over a driver for a traffic violation, son the police said. While at the Sunoco gas station at 326th Street and Chrome Avenue, an RID officer approached the vehicle and attempted to pull the driver over. Then, the driver slammed the door on the officer’s hand and sped away, hitting another woman’s car.

While fleeing, the driver made a right turn onto Southwest 336th Street and when he lost control he crossed the westbound carriageway, struck a fence and then crashed into a home, police said.

Neighbor Mari Williams, who witnessed the incident, said, “The car left like it went over the fence. “We saw a big cloud and I ran out of my car. And I ran out with my camera and started filming.”

As the car went airborne, a gun with a magazine was able to fly out the window, sending bullets flying everywhere, police said.
“What is important is that you lose a 17-year-old,” said Miami-Dade police spokesman Alvaro Zabaleta. “You are 17 years old, for whatever reason he ran, he put himself and others in danger.”
The car he was driving was a rental car and the gun was stolen in Northeast Miami-Dade, police said.
Both the officer whose arm was hit and the woman who was hit by the car were safe, officials said.

The deceased has been identified as Robert Michaelius Brown, 22, of South Jacksonville, Fla., sheriff’s office spokeswoman Raquel Zick announced Tuesday on social media.
According to an accident report released Monday by the California Highway Patrol, Brown was traveling westbound in his Nissan Altima at an “undetermined rate” when he “crossed the double yellow line and go east straight to Infiniti.” The SUV was traveling east at approximately 55 miles per hour.

Brown, a passenger in the car, died at the scene from his injuries. The four women and one man in the SUV, all Oxnard residents between the ages of 53 and 75, were hospitalized, according to the CHP. His current condition is unknown.
The CHP is investigating the crash and it is not yet known if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the incident.
