WASHINGTON (AP) – When a government document mysteriously surfaced earlier this week in the federal court system’s highest-profile case, it was another explosive storyline in the Justice Department’s investigation into classified records stored with former President Donald Trump of Florida . estate.

The document appeared in the court file for the first time Monday afternoon and is marked “MOTION to Intervene by US Department of the Treasury.”
The document, riddled with spelling and syntax errors, reads: “The U.S. Department of the Treasury, through the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Marshals Service, seized Federal Security Seizures containing sensitive documents subject to the Defendant’s sealed search warrant of FBI arrest.”

He cited federal law to subpoena financial records in federal investigations. The document also included two supposed warrants, one he said was sent to CNN in Atlanta and another to a towing company in Michigan.

The AP is not identifying the inmate because he has a documented history of mental illness and has not been charged with a crime related to the filing.
“There is no indication that he had any authority to act on behalf of the United States,” the judge wrote in the Georgia case.
