SAN ANTONIO. San Antonio police said one person was taken to the hospital and another was arrested after a three-car crash on the city’s south side late Monday night.

The accident happened around 11:30 p.m. On Interstate 90 near Marian Street, near Frio City Road.
A black SUV rear-ended a white sedan in the westbound lanes of Interstate 90. At that point, both vehicles engaged and spun around, hitting a third vehicle before going off the road and hitting a tree, police said.
Police said the driver of the car, a man in his twenties, was trapped inside the car and had to be rescued by firefighters. He was taken to Brooke Army Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The passenger of the car was not injured.
The female driver of the SUV was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of alcohol, and depending on the severity of her injuries, she may be charged with aggravated assault, GAP reports. The woman’s name and age have not been released.

The crash happened around 1 a.m. when another vehicle collided with an SUV carrying four passengers heading east on the 1604 Freeway. Authorities say firefighters were able to use the “jaws of life” to cut open the vehicle and extricate the two people.
Two men, 37-year-old Daniel Valenzuela Jr. and 69-year-old Daniel Valenzuela Sr., died at the scene. A third victim, 84-year-old Andrea Iglesias Ovalle, later died after being taken to a local hospital.

Odessa Health System Medical Center released a statement on behalf of the system and the Ector County Police Department, saying they are “saddened by the loss of Sergeant Daniel Valenzuela Jr.” The report said the other two victims were Valenzuela’s father and grandmother.
The Ector County Hospital District Police Department and Medical Center Health System are mourning the loss of Sgt.
Police had to close the intersection of 1604 and Culebra for several hours while they investigated. DAP officers added that the suspect in another car had signs of intoxication. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK.
The suspect was identified Monday as 17-year-old Elijah James Montalvo. His charges include three counts of intoxication manslaughter, with bail set at $700,000, according to records.

A man died after he crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with another vehicle on the southbound side, according to San Antonio police.
Officers said the man was driving a silver car erratically in the northbound lanes in the 3700 block of Roosevelt Street.

Police say the driver of the silver car, believed to be in his 20s, died at the scene.
The driver of the red truck was not injured. However, his front seat passenger suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution.
