Spanish Town is Baton Rouge’s quirkiest neighborhood and will appeal to artists, hipsters, and anyone who wants a non-touristy experience when they choose to live there. It is a historical district that was put into operation in 1805.
Baton Rouge Hotel Rooms And Suites
The uniqueness of the area is part of what makes Baton Rouge one of the best places to visit in Louisiana.
The Spanish town is known for its colorful wooden houses, community-oriented market, and higher-than-average LGBTQ population in Baton Rouge.
Since there are no hotels in Spanish Town, visitors will have to rent a house to stay in the neighborhood, but the closest lodgings are the cottages in Capitol Park.
Spain City and downtown are within walking distance of each other, and Spain City is especially close to the Louisiana state capitol and the beautiful Arsenal Park, which also houses the Arsenal Museum.

On your way downtown, be sure to stop by the Capitol Market, the neighborhood’s community center. Once you reach the end of Spanish Town’s eponymous road, you’ll reach the Capitol Park Museum, which has great exhibits about the area’s culture, maritime industry, and Mardi Gras.
The best time to visit the Spanish city is during Mardi Gras, when the neighborhood hosts the most exciting (and not always kid-friendly) parades.

Southdown is within easy reach of University Lake, popular for walking, jogging and cycling. Its main street, Perkins Road, is a bustling bastion of restaurants, bars and shops.
In particular, the Perkins Road overpass area is home to many fine and trendy restaurants, such as The Overpass Merchant and Chow Yum Asian Fusion, that will satisfy foodies of all ages.
Southdown doesn’t have a dedicated hotel, so you can choose to rent a house or stay at a nearby group of hotels in the College Drive area.

If you rent a house or room in the Garden District, you can walk to University Lakes and City-Brooks Community Park, one of Baton Rouge’s most beautiful parks. One of my favorite features of City Park is the meditation maze, but you can also enjoy golf and the kids will love the splash pad.
Close to the park is the Knock Knock Children’s Museum, making this area ideal for families with young children. Especially if
