Frustrated by the lack of effective school options for children with autism, Diana Diaz-Harrison organized a group of parents and professionals to form a non-profit organization with the sole purpose of starting the first charter school in Arizona focused on children with autism. . AZACS has received approval from the Arizona State Commission for Charter Schools to expand into Middle School classes. AZACS is the only K-8 charter school in Arizona that focuses on students with autism. AZACS opened a second campus in the city of Phoenix.

AZACS is a proud recipient of the KaBOOM Playground award. Volunteers from Dongeng Brownies and other community groups built an artistic playground on our campus.

AZACS is accredited to serve middle school grades by the Arizona State Board of Charter Schools, making AZACS the first K-12 trust focused on students with autism in the southwestern United States.

After graduation, many families look to progress in the AZACS online program. AZACS is opening a fully accredited online school in 2021 that provides exceptional service to students throughout Arizona.
