Dallas, OR. December 1, 2023 – The Columbia Gorge Community College Foundation recently held its annual scholarship luncheon to honor individual, corporate and institutional donors who support the Foundation’s student mission. . School and life.

Held at the College’s Regional Skills Centre, the event began with a tour of the cutting-edge area of Manufacturing and Construction Technology led by instructors Robert Wells-Clarkin and Glenn Wood. Wells-Clark shared her thoughts with about 50 donors.
“We have built a learning environment that provides students with real-world experiences so that when they graduate, they will be prepared to be active and productive members of their communities,” he said. Our students pay tuition fees without incurring huge debts.
He added that a student participating in the program would not be able to take advantage of the opportunities offered by CGCC without a scholarship from the foundation.
She wants to strengthen relationships with local economic development partners and create win-win opportunities by connecting students and businesses. Lawson also discussed plans to activate the university’s Hispanic Service Institute (HSI) designation and strengthen the school’s outreach to historically marginalized students.

The scholarship allows students to enroll and stay on track to complete the school’s certificate programs or AAS degree. Studies show that the longer it takes to complete a degree, the higher the student debt.
A CGCC degree provides an immediate return on investment in the form of an average annual income of $7,000, while student debt mitigates this impact.
Longtime donor and college supporter Juanita Nilling shared her senior college journey from computer programming to learning Spanish to help her family prepare for the holidays.

To date, Neitling has earned more than 95 credits, and the David and Juanita Neilling Scholarship, which she and her beloved husband founded, has supported CGCC students for more than a decade. Following Ms. Neethling’s inspiring story, Daniel Perry of Brookfield Renewable US announced his organization’s continued support of the school’s electromechanical technology program, pledging $25,000 toward student scholarships and program development.

Continued support from donors in the community and across the United States drives progress toward the school’s mission of building dreams and changing lives.
