Fatal Car Accident In Maryland Yesterday – FREDERICK, Md. (From the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office)- “On October 18, at approximately 1:36 p.m., Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) Deputies responded to a call for service at the intersection of Buckeystown Pike (Route 85) and Executive Road for a report 2 cars were seriously injured. As a result of the accident, one person lost his life and another person was seriously injured and is now in the trauma center.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel transported Sotir Markoff, 20, of Buckeystown, Maryland, to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he later died of his injuries. FCSO representatives have informed all relatives.

Buckeystown Man Killed In Md. 85 Crash
A preliminary investigation revealed that the single vehicle was northbound on Buckeystown Pike and attempted to turn left onto Executive Road. The other vehicle was traveling south on Buckeystown Pike with the intention of continuing south through the intersection with Executive Road. The vehicles collided at the intersection.
The investigation into this accident is ongoing and there is no indication that the two drivers were impaired and speeding is not a factor.
“This is now the second homicide in this area in the last two weeks,” said FCSO Corporal Nathan Rector, a member of the Traffic Unit. “With new traffic patterns, road widening and ever-increasing traffic volume on Route 85, we remind drivers to pay attention to traffic signals, all signs and road rules.”
On Oct. 5, at approximately 10:15 a.m., FCSO deputies responded to a two-vehicle injury accident at the intersection of Buckeystown Pike and the entrance to the Westview Shopping Center. A preliminary investigation indicates a 2010 Honda CRV was traveling north on Buckeystown Pike and was attempting to turn left into the shopping center. A 2013 Mack Truck traveling southbound in the intersection also struck the Honda.
Driver Arrested After Crash In Montgomery County, Maryland

Prince George’s County police have arrested 176 people for stealing Kias and Hyundais so far this year. According to the police, 51 of them are adults and 125 are minors.
Investigators are looking for the driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash, though they are going door-to-door Wednesday looking for doorbell video and other witnesses.

An Acura driver attempted to change lanes when the vehicle “struck the front passenger corner panel” of another vehicle, an updated state police statement said. “Crash Team investigators believe this caused the Acura to lose control and then roll into the work area,” the release said.
