Restaurants Near Tiger Stadium Baton Rouge – Unlike LSU’s other on-campus dining options, such as the Student Union’s fast food options or the two dining halls, the newest addition to LSU’s culinary landscape is a full restaurant experience.

Serving LSU students and faculty and the Baton Rouge community in fine style, the salon is located in the heart of the LSU campus in the former LSU Club on Union Square next to Barnes and Noble.

Originally built in 1939, the LSU Faculty Club, which houses the Lounge, was originally a campus hotel and restaurant that hosted only Faculty Club members and their families. Facilities such as billiards rooms, a TV room and faculty dormitories give way to the square’s fashionable denizens: the Lounge’s sister property, the Club, which serves as a sophisticated buffet in the former hotel’s dining room. “We have groups of students who come with their parents who were students themselves and show them this hidden gem of the LSU campus,” says club director Neva Ferguson.

The idea to turn half of the faculty club into a contemporary dining experience came in May 2021, when the pandemic allowed the university to reimagine the space while the club was closed, Wronkoski says. The restaurant opened last fall.

While the new restaurant is part of the LSU Dining ecosystem, like McDonald’s and Panda Express in the Student Union, Wronkoski said the Lounge strives to provide a more refined and sophisticated dining experience on campus. With wood paneled walls and modern minimal furnishings, white marble worktops mixed with classic jazz and big band aesthetics and an original wooden door pattern, Lounge is the furthest from roadside cafes.

The menu continues to diverge from the traditional college buffet. While students can pay for dining on campus using Paw Points or Tigercash, the Lounge offers a more elaborate menu. It offers local favorites like shrimp and grits, as well as tapas like bacon-wrapped dates and pork belly.

“I created a cocktail menu to make the role of a university bar and restaurant fun. Every coxswain enjoys playing at LSU,” Wronkoski said. “Even Vesper, the traditional cocktail, means Vespers in the bell tower.”

As before, the Club and Lounge hosts special events on weekends and together they are beautiful venues for weddings, conferences and private parties. “That’s the great thing about the space; it’s open during the week for students, faculty and staff to come in and have a bite to eat. And on the weekends we come to party,” says LSU Food Director of Dining Reid Dowie.
