Seven of the nine people killed in a multi-car crash in North Las Vegas on Sunday were family members, police and families said.
Two other people were seriously injured in a Dodge Challenger that authorities say crashed on Cheyenne Avenue after running a red light more than 100 miles north of Commercial Street on Saturday afternoon. Police said at least four people in separate vehicles were injured.
Passenger Killed In May 13th North Las Vegas Car Crash
North Las Vegas Police Chief Eline Grawatt said: “We offer our deepest condolences to all those affected by this horrific incident.” “It affects us as a community, as a valley and as a nation.”
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office has identified eight of the nine people who died in Sunday night’s crash. In the Toyota Sienna were 5-year-old Fernando Yeshua Mejia; Adrian Zacharias, 10; Lluvia Daylenn Zacharias, 13; Brian Axel Zacharias, 15; Gabriel Mejia-Barrera, 23; David Mejia-Barrera, 25; and Jose Zacarias-Caldera, 35. Both were from North Las Vegas.
The driver of the Challenger was Gary Dean Robinson, 59, of North Las Vegas. The challenger was not determined until Sunday night.

The Challenger, which was carrying a 50-year-old man, collided with a van around 3 p.m. On Saturday, Sienna collided with a white Ford Fusion driven by a 31-year-old woman, police said. A 39-year-old white Hyundai with a 39-year-old driver, a 23-year-old man and a 20-year-old man, and a white Mercedes carrying two 51-year-old passengers.
A woman who started a GoFundMe page on Sunday wrote that family members were in one of the cars involved.
“There is nothing worse than losing your children,” wrote Erlinda Zakarias. “My heart is in my hands, please find money to say goodbye to them.”
Pablo Ramirez tearfully said that his two young children were his children in the car.

He said his family did not see anyone near the accident on Saturday. He said he will go to the funeral home on Sunday evening and expects “mucho gasto” or a lot of money for the funeral.

Neighbors Nick Gomez and Eric Ramos brought candles and a teddy bear to the crash site Sunday afternoon, saying Brian Zacharias was a friend.
A nearby vacant lot wall was partially damaged by vandalism, and several candles were placed under a sign in the intersection. A lot of pollution has been released from the area due to vehicles passing through the intersection in both directions.
Two Dead In Wrong Way Crash In Northwest Las Vegas
That night, four of Brian Zacharias’ classmates placed flowers and candles in a small area near the crash site. Sherlyn Koss, Alexis Lopez, Micky Rodriguez and Sammy Melendez all remembered him as a “fun and dangerous person”. “Good,” they said.
Zakarias said he was a sophomore at Rancho High School and an inspiration. He worked hard and often encouraged others. When Koss heard about the accident, at first he thought it was a joke because Zakaria liked to laugh.
“I’m not surprised right now. But I know I’ll be in school tomorrow,” Rodriguez said
