One of the first restaurants I fell in love with when I moved to Des Moines, Centro will always be a top contender. Located in downtown Des Moines, they serve Italian food, specializing in pizza/salad combinations and homemade bread from their attached lunch spot – South Union. A perfect blend of modern finishes, vintage decor and original floor tiles welcomes you with the aroma of garlic and red wine, followed by waiters dressed in traditional black and white attire and the clinking of utensils and chatter echoing from the high ceiling. A fun place to have lunch and take out-of-town guests.

Located in the center of the city, right inside the social club, this is a very interesting place. I often go for lunch, ordering their a la carte menu of tacos with a salad.
