Mercy Clinic In Des Moines Iowa – Founded in 1893, Mercy Medical Center has grown into a 917-bed acute care hospital located on three campuses in Des Moines, IA. The center recently launched “Mercy Momentum,” a comprehensive, multi-year plan to address the growing health care needs of central Iowa.

The most recently completed project is the East Tower, an $80 million expansion that houses state-of-the-art medical services in a modern setting designed to increase patient privacy, accessibility and overall comfort for patients and their families. As part of its expansion, the center needed a unique, dynamic signage solution that could seamlessly integrate into all buildings – new and old – and evolve with the center for years to come.

ASI created a complete signage solution for the East Tower that would meet the hospital’s budget, meet project expectations, and comply with current ADA guidelines. ASI consulted interior design experts to ensure signage would complement the finish of the new addition.

Mercy Medical Center

ASI is providing a digital signage system to serve as the primary signage system for the spacious, state-of-the-art Mercy Conference Center. The system efficiently manages information and effectively communicates current and upcoming events to staff, physicians and community members visiting the conference area. Infiniti was chosen as the ultimate interior wayfinding solution due to its sleek modular design. Additionally, wood accents and digital imprints are used as functional identifiers for key areas such as pediatrics.

Infinity Signage was fitted with scalable Paperflex windows in key areas of the six-story, 249,000-square-foot facility to grow with the center as office names and services change. Custom exterior monument signs and dimensional lettering elegantly identify the center to patients and visitors and guide them to their destination. The first hospital in Iowa to achieve LEED® certification for new construction, MercyOne West Des Moines Medical Center was designed to be a modern, efficient replacement facility in the heart of the busy Wellness Campus in Clive, Iowa . The center is adjacent to the new MercyOne Health and Fitness Center.

Using evidence-based design, the team created a central emergency department model that separates the operating room and support traffic from the patient area, promotes privacy for patients and creates a calm and comfortable environment for everyone. The facility is among the first to implement a hybrid decentralized and clustered nursing station model, combining the efficiency and safety of a decentralized station with the communication and social benefits of a centralized station.

CommonSpirit is experiencing the IT security incident affecting some of our facilities. As a security measure, we have disabled line certain computer systems, which may include electronic patient records systems and other systems. Our facilities follow existing protocols in the event of a system outage and take steps to minimize disruptions.” On Wednesday, patients and their families at MercyOne Medical Center in West Des Moines said they watched their caregivers keep paper records.
