Fatal Car Accident In Georgia Yesterday
CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. – A driver trying to elude police is suspected of causing a fatal four-vehicle crash that closed all southbound lanes of Interstate 675 in Clayton County Wednesday morning.

Officials say a Clayton County Police officer drove up to a home at about 6:08 a.m. on I-675 South and saw a car in the median with its headlights on.
When the policeman turned around, he saw the driver dead behind the wheel. The officer knocked on the window and woke the driver. The officer saw the driver who appeared disoriented, wide-eyed and sweating.
After asking the driver to open the car door, officers said the driver put the vehicle in motion and sped off in the wrong direction in the southbound lane. The officer ran back to his car to follow and saw the accident about a kilometer away.
SKYFOX 5 flew over the incident and saw several patrol cars blocking the road and police putting up crime tape and tarps.

At this time, investigators say it is not known if the driver was impaired or had an emergency, but they are believed to be the cause of the accident.
Another driver involved in the accident died of his injuries. Police have not released information about the condition or identity of the others involved.

Eight people were killed Wednesday when the driver of a car believed to be carrying illegal immigrants fled from police and crashed into an oncoming vehicle on a South Texas highway.
The state Department of Public Safety said the accident happened around 6:30 a.m. when the driver of a 2009 Honda Civic attempted to pass Zavala County Sheriff’s Office deputies and attempted to pass a semi-truck. The Civic collided with a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox, causing it to burst into flames.
Everyone in the two vehicles was killed, according to DPS. This included the 21-year-old driver of the Civic, from Houston, and his five passengers. Some of the passengers were from Honduras, department spokesman Christopher Olivarez said in a statement. The two people at Equinox are from Georgia.
It’s unclear how the vehicles were moving, but photos released by law enforcement show both were mangled and most of the Equinox’s parts were burned.

Wednesday’s accident near Batesville — about 80 miles (100 kilometers) southwest of San Antonio — was the latest car accident involving migrants, and the highest death toll since 13 people died in a -crash in remote Holtville, California, in March 2021.
The American Civil Liberties Union of Texas reported that 106 people died while Border Patrol searched vehicles from January 2010 to June of this year. Fatalities averaged 3.5 per year through 2019 but spiked in 2020, prompting officials to create a new vehicle inspection law aimed at increasing safety.
The policy announced in January stopped short of prohibiting prosecutions, but, according to CBP, “provides a clear basis for weighing operational risks, such as the risks they pose to the public, against the benefits or law enforcement necessity.”
Local law enforcement agencies have also been involved in deadly incidents in recent years. In June 2022, four fugitives were killed in an attempted robbery after a police chase in the South Texas town of Encinal, about 80 miles (130 kilometers) southeast of Wednesday’s incident.

CAMDEN COUNTY, Ga. — Four people were killed in a Friday afternoon crash that closed I-95 in Camden County, according to the Georgia State Patrol. Several other people were taken to the hospital for their injuries, a UF Health spokeswoman said.
The accident occurred on southbound I-95 in St. Louis. Mary’s way. The northbound and southbound lanes were closed at one point. After 9 p.m., all lines were opened.

The incident occurred near the Georgia Welcome Center around 2:30 p.m. Two trailers and several vehicles were involved in the accident.
The driver of the international semi-truck is believed to be under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred, according to officials.
A white International semi-truck was traveling south on Central and collided with a Nissan Armada. The driver lost control of the vehicle, which began to spin and hit a Chevrolet Silverado, causing the truck to cross the median and into the northbound lane of 1-95. The semi was struck by a Nissan Xterra, a Honda Pilot and a black Peterbilt semi-truck before reaching its final rest stop on I-95 North.
Two passengers from the International truck died at the scene, and the driver was taken to UF Health. Two passengers of the Honda Pilot also died after being taken to the hospital.

The accident is still under investigation. The names of the driver and the injured have not been released.
The nearby Kings Bay Marine Station provided assistance, and the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office also assisted in the rescue efforts.
Traffic was diverted to nearby U.S. Highway 17 as crews work to clear the scene.
It took crews four hours to travel from Jacksonville via Interstate 17 to reach the site.
