Cranston police confirmed the injuries to NBC affiliate WJAR, and the vans appeared to be traveling in opposite directions when a vehicle crossed a double yellow line and collided with another van on Scituate Avenue.

According to police, first responders were trying to determine how to remove one of the vans from the scene because it contained highly flammable oxygen tanks — three of which were leaking, reports WJAR.
Police did not say what caused a driver to swerve into oncoming traffic. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
