Charlotte Nc Car Accident Reports

Charlotte Nc Car Accident Reports – After you are involved in a car accident, the officer at the scene will investigate the accident and record their findings in a report.

This “accident report” can play an important role in determining how much the insurance company will pay you for your claim.

Charlotte Nc Car Accident Reports

This is especially true in North Carolina, as it is a liberalized state. Typically, if the insurance company can prove that you were negligent in some way, you won’t get it, even if the other driver wasn’t reckless. The meaning of this line is a discussion for another time. Now you want to protect yourself against the insurance company and their team trying to prove that you somehow contributed to the accident.

The police reported case number, also known as the DMV assigned to the accident case, can be found in the box to the right of the report. This box has the words “Do not fill in these spaces” above to prevent the DMV from providing the incident number from the police report. This number will help you identify your case when you talk to other people about it.

The section we marked A in the police report is intended for the officer to record the organization and basic circumstances of the accident. When and where was it produced? Details must be confirmed by the manager. For example, did the accident occur on a service road or access road?

Section B, marked in orange, is where information about drivers and their vehicles is recorded. Or one of the parties is a pedestrian hit by a car. Special circumstances are also covered here, including the entry of a commercial vehicle (such as a car) or an emergency. Some officer warnings can be viewed here, such as obstructing vision in vehicles or on the road or consuming alcohol/drugs.

Section C is where contact details for everything accident related are recorded for when you need to follow up. Page 1 of the North Carolina emergency report should end with a place for officers to record details of the EMS personnel who responded to the accident.

Section D allows the police to give their opinion on the nature of the accident. As an independent observer and experienced police officer in the area, the officer’s findings and conclusions are greatly appreciated. The officer will say what he thinks happened, who was driving too fast and who didn’t look at a traffic light. Witnesses are listed at the bottom of the second page of the police report.

Section E allows the officer to recreate the car accident through a form of photography. Parts D and E can identify the other party’s negligence – or raise questions about your negligence.

These two sections aren’t the answer, but knowing how to read your accident report and make sure the details are accurate is something you’ll want to be comfortable with after your accident.

Check the entire police report carefully for any errors. A small mistake, like the wrong time of day, can affect your case. If you believe your report is false, contact an attorney immediately.
