Cj Banks Des Moines Iowa – @mastermind DR Daily?! I have a friend who eats there, it’s good. They have been there for years, they wouldn’t be there if they weren’t making money
Honestly, at this rate, I wonder how many malls that aren’t Jordan Creek or Coral Ridge, all mall locations, can make it without chain openings and outdated local offerings (read Jordan Creek’s Zombie Burger at the restaurant.)

The rundown stores in Valley West aren’t perfect, but it’s still a who’s who of stores in strip malls and places like Street Rite that were in Valley West a while before the land hit. I’m not worried
My Top 10 Iowa Quarterbacks Of All Time
(PS – Other than North Grand, they have the only JCPenney in the greater Iowa City area. They sure do.
I estimate that between the more central location (ie not on the outskirts of town) and the higher median household income, the overall purchasing power of, say, Valley West is much higher than Southridge.
Southridge is “on the edge” but the location is poor (so to speak) compared to the convenient metro population. Compared to other options, it’s not a nice and comfortable trip, I mean time… Ankeny is further from downtown (or at least comparable), but it’s much easier to get to Ankeny and spend more $$$. The reality of why Southridge is Southridge
Yes. I think the only hope for Southridge is to add a lot of density there and offer non-traditional shopping centers. Valley West and MH could do with some much needed reamping and refreshing
Jordan Creek Mall Seeks Fresh Feel On 10th Anniversary
I learned today that Bath & Body Works will be building a new store on the ground floor of the current Victoria’s Secret location (the lobby is leaving the space next to the former Mrs. Couture and CJ Banks). Inside the store, I’m told, is the White Bar Candle Company (“part” of the store, she told me, not her own interpretation).
And Victoria’s Secret will temporarily relocate to C&G Sports Stores and completely renovate its current three locations.
A limited edition women’s clothing store at Valley West Mall in West Des Moines will close Saturday. 80 percent off remaining items. The company’s parent company is closing stores across the country, Bloomberg News reports that the company will soon file for bankruptcy. The store is located on the upper level of the mall next to Bath and Body Works The Valley West store is the company’s only location in Iowa http://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/ … / 95797344 /
It looks like Valley West Mall has finally found a tenant to fill the corner space next to Cholatara Stam.

For the new look of the Bath & Body Works/Victoria’s Secret future, a very long plasterboard thermal wrap has also appeared:
Sorry, I haven’t been to VWM in a long time so I’m just relaying what I’ve read Halberstads go where the kitchen collection is listed. Looking at the VWM website, the kitchen collection has moved to another location in the mall (upper level , Yonkers Wing). Are the Halberstads new to VWM or have they been elsewhere? I know it’s in Jordan Creek
As @4 Starkashier mentioned with Joles occupying the top half of center field, VWM is losing business in the bottom half of center field. Gymboree is closing, Jordan Creek store will remain open
@4starcashier I know!!! The first time that picture came up when I signed up to close, I thought, “This is the PERFECT picture!”

I’ve never been to Valley West, but I had to find booty and suspenders for my son’s upcoming homecoming. Walking through the mall was really relaxing and a nice showcase of the retail scene. I’d say about 40 percent of the stores were empty, and the rest of the business expanded to take up two or three times the space. The mall itself looked in good shape and seemed to be really trying to attract retailers but it looks like they are missing out….badly.
Gary Updegraff and Craig Jellings, owners of Golf Headquarters, opened a cookie shop called Cookies & Jolls at Valley West Mall. The store is located on the upper level of the mall in the space that used to be occupied by Great American Cookies – Someone open a toll booth by the Chip Cafe I would love to see it!
Chalet Bar and Grill is expected to open in mid-November in the space occupied by 34’s Sports Grill, which closed in late August. The lodge owner will open the Alexander Music Space, which has been expanded to include space next to the Helzberg Diamond. And something we already mentioned…
The Kitchen Collection moved to a location near Yonkers on the upper level of the mall. Its old location at the other end of the center near von Mauer has been renovated to accommodate the new store in Halberstadt.
Jordan Creek Town Center
A fire appears to have broken out in a mechanic’s room in Yunkers overnight Smoke is drifting into the lower level of the mall No word on damage
“The damage was to the elevator shaft and did not affect the sales area or merchandise,” Hojnacki said in an email. “We are in the process of cleaning the affected area,” he said.
Hear something interesting over the weekend. This would be classified as rumor or speculation, but given the current retail climate, it makes a lot of sense. However, the couple told me that Von Moore may have wanted to build a separate stand near Jordan Creek in Iowa City and Kansas City. They will close the Valley West location once this deal is complete. That doesn’t make a lot of sense at this point, but if parent company Uncors pulls the plug on their Valley West location along with all the empty space in the mall, it makes a lot more sense. Anyway, food for thought
……… We were at VWM this weekend and it was busy Every store we visited the cash register was ringing
From The Archives: Iconic Iowa Farm Photos Since 1930
I have to wonder if the real litmus test for Von Moore, Yonkers (and maybe some other stores) will come next year, if it hasn’t already by then. I’m curious to hear how the JCPenney store is doing – is it doing well? What about some other stores like The Gap?
This raises another question: Are there long-term plans for merchandising and promotion at Valley West Mall (compared to Jordan Creek)? What are the advantages of Valley West over Jordan Creek, Merle Hay or online shopping? What are other uses for the Valley West Mall footprint? If the future of Valley West Mall is an issue, I hope these issues are resolved
Yes, with the competition from Jordan Creek, I think VWM is still doing well for the population of the nearby area. A lot of money will be spent. I also know many locals will go there to avoid Jordan Creek
I live equally between the two and if given a choice (ie I have a store I want to go to) I choose VWM for significantly less hassle.
Nfl Mock Draft: Qbs Go 1 2 3, Trades In New 2 Round Projections
I try to support three malls Honestly, in Southridge I only go there for Target and Marshalls.
I love going to Merle Hay and I’m glad there are a lot of juniors supporting the mall, but it lacks the “sizzle”. Flex Brewhouse is nice, but I wish the tenants would update their storefronts like Justice, Children’s Place, Foot Locker, Bath & Body Works, and Victoria’s Secret to show they are committed to the mall. The mall is starting to look dated again due to the Flix renovation, especially the Target wing (sans Ulta and Shoe Carnival).
Valley West Mall has a lot to offer! I love going there and feel like they could throw in some younger anchors to fill that upper level dead zone, again H&M, Five Below, North Face etc, or some smaller mid-range stores like Papyrus, Madewell, Loft. , Kate Spade New York, etc., I never want to leave Von Moore. Aside from selling to Brandy Yunkers in 1987, the mall’s anchor has remained the same since it opened!
I love going to Jordan Creek and it’s not a problem for me, but I actually prefer the shopping corridor on University Avenue to Mills Civic. It’s not about elite or economic status… it’s just about the look and how easy it is to get to all the big stores. I usually go to Valley West, Best Buy, Whole Foods, Office Depot,
