Her love for animals has been constant since she had dogs for most of her childhood, but it was after rescuing her 6-year-old pit bull, Bubba, that her love for animals was truly ignited. . In 2016, Bubba Rescue became passionate about helping animals, especially those classified as “aggressive” or unwanted based on their breed. Yara is also passionate about birth care and is training to become a certified labor and postpartum doula in January 2024!
In August 2022, we welcomed our son, Cruz. He has developed a deep bond with the dogs and is passionate about caring for them to the best of his ability. By involving him in the activities and fun of pet ownership at such an early age, we hope to develop his love for animals and instill the important values of compassion and empathy. Bubba has been a fighter and survivor since he was a kid. When he was rescued by the San Diego Humane Society in 2016, he had just been treated for parvovirus. He grew up around all kinds of dogs – puppies, puppies, big dogs, giant dogs…he’s seen them all! Now seven years old, he helps us in SoFetch! He was not involved or responsive when it came to deciding whether the puppy was suitable to live with us. He was considered a “big brother” to everyone who lived with us.
Gus “Gussie Boy” is a 5-year-old blue lacy mixed breed dog. Gus was the first person we rescued from San Antonio. He was adopted by Von Omi’s Dogs of God Rescue after he was found wandering the streets suffering from severe mange and other illnesses.
