According to Sgt. Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Public Affairs Officer Steve Gaskins said Matthew Joseph Oliver, 30, of Spring Hill was traveling south on US-19 in the center lane near Sanderling Road in a 2009 Dodge Touring SUV.

A third vehicle, a 2007 Suzuki 4-door, was traveling southbound on US-19 near Sanderling Road in the center-lane and swerved to avoid a collision with two other vehicles. The driver of the Suzuki, Kathleen Stiles, 57, of Rabun Gap, GA, pulled off the westbound shoulder of south-northbound US-19 and struck an aluminum light pole as she attempted to avoid the initial collision. A falling aluminum light pole struck a fourth vehicle, a 2010 Toyota 4-door driven by Maria Delos Angeles Sanch, 40, of New Port Richey.

The crash closed the southbound lanes of US-19. Oliver was taken to Bayonet Point Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to FHP. All three other drivers suffered minor injuries and were evaluated at the scene.

NEW PORT RICHE, Fla. – Authorities are searching for a driver accused of hitting a pedestrian and driving off U.S. 19.

Monday morning, officers responded to a crash on U.S. 19 south of Floramar Terrace in New Port Richey, according to police. The pedestrian was found at the scene and taken to a nearby hospital, law enforcement said.

Witnesses told investigators that the suspect vehicle involved in the crash was a white pickup truck that was traveling southbound on the highway after the crash. Surveillance video shows a white pickup truck traveling south on U.S. 19 minutes before the crash.

Police said the truck was a white 2003-2008 Dodge Ram four-door with silver or reflective mirrors and black fender flares. Authorities believe the truck sustained damage to its rearview mirror and driver’s side light.
