At the time, I was an assistant professor at the Mannship School of Mass Communication at LSU. I also worked as a “Louisiana Maid” on weekends. So I had a unique background in both entertainment performance and children’s marketing. When he graduated, he decided to return to Nevada and I bought the company from him in 2015. Back then it was called Rent-A-Princess. I changed my name and changed his name and we grew up. It was a very interesting and exciting trip.
I have a degree in Mass Communication from LSU, and have worked professionally as a graphic designer for over 25 years. I am also a certified public relations professional. Before starting my own boutique graphic and web design business, I worked for ten years in the communications offices of BREC and the East Baton Rouge Parish School System. With a strong background in marketing, advertising and public relations, after taking over Petit Princess, I was able to determine immediately that the next six years were the best way to spend dollars to expand the reach of the business.
The Petit Princess Company was founded on a unique principle: create magical princess parties and character experiences for South Louisiana children. We are dedicated to providing quality entertainment for children at birthday parties, promotions, festivals, corporate events, school events and more. We are the largest children’s character entertainment company in the state of Louisiana. We measure this by several metrics: social media following, game size, event production and engagement. We have worked hard to create the most professional princess character experience for our customers. All of our staff are trained in performance, costume and makeup skills, and we provide the highest quality and most authentic character experiences on the market. All our artists must have experience in theatre, choir or dance, preferably a combination of all three. We have over 30 different characters to choose from, and our parties include singing, dancing, story time, photo sessions, coronations and “Happy Birthday” celebrations.

4. What do you want your customers to know about Petit Princess Company that they may not know?
We serve all of South Louisiana, and we come to you! Many people know us for our events which have become the most ticketed events in the city. Most of our events are now successful and sell out in less than five minutes. However, our primary mission was to create a festive experience at home, and that’s still what we do every weekend. We create magic for children across the state on their special day. We are also the most trusted name in children’s entertainment in the state, holding the title of “Family Favorite” for years as voted by parent magazines in both Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
I don’t perform much myself, but as a company owner I have a lot to do. I spend the whole week sorting, creating content for our social media platforms, cleaning and mending clothes etc. I am responsible for everything from re-styling wigs, hiring and training artists, and planning major events to managing contracts and even for my latest project. For me, the most exciting thing is the look in a child’s eyes when they see their favorite princess. It’s like they’re meeting their idol, and it still makes me emotional, especially at events like our royal princess ball. When I hear the audience cheer when our princess performs, or when we get another glowing review from a mom who says we’ve created the most magical experience for her child, it’s all worth it. I never imagined this job for myself, and now I can’t imagine my life without it. He has given me great joy.
2020 has been a very difficult year for us, for many others, especially in the entertainment business. When you have a company that’s based on people to celebrate and you can’t get together in groups, well… our business has pretty much dried up. We started offering the “Princess on Call” service, which facilitated virtual princess visits and presented virtual stories on our Facebook page, etc. However, things woke up again in 2021 and people were excited to celebrate again. We are also back to hosting events, although they have been scaled back and we have taken precautions for safe distancing and hygiene at all times. Now, in 2022, we are very grateful to return to our pre-pandemic activity level. We are very grateful to our customers for connecting with us and enthusiastically supporting our return. We plan to make this year the best year yet!
As I mentioned above, the original company name was Rent-A-Princess, when it was just a couple of college girls having weekend parties. When I started, I wanted to bring it back with a name that included the word “petite” in keeping with Louisiana’s French background.
We have the busiest calendar this year in company history! We’re bringing back some of our most popular events like the Royal Princess Ball, Holiday Tease and Villain Character Dining events, while adding Bunny Brunch with Peter Rabbit and other new events. We plan to add three to four new characters to our roster this year, as well as introduce the ever-popular Sanderson Sisters, as well as new characters to be released.
