Mercy Clinic Des Moines Iowa – Founded in 1893, Mercy Medical Center has grown to a 917-bed acute care hospital with three locations in Des Moines, IA. The center recently introduced Mercy Momentum, a comprehensive, multi-year plan to meet the growing health care needs of central Iowa.
The most recently completed project was the East Tower, an $80 million expansion that provides state-of-the-art medical services in a modern atmosphere and aims to improve patient privacy, accessibility and overall convenience for patients and their families. As part of the expansion, the center needed a single dynamic solution that could integrate seamlessly into all buildings (new and old) and grow with the center for years to come.

ASI developed a complete signage solution for the East Tower that stayed within the hospital’s budget, met project expectations, and met current ADA guidelines. ASI consulted with interior designers to ensure signage complements the goals of the new addition.
University Of Iowa To Rename Mercy: ‘ui Health Care Medical Center Downtown’
ASI provided a digital signage system that served as the primary signage system for the spacious, modern Mercy Conference Center. The system efficiently manages information and effectively communicates current and future events to staff, physicians and community members visiting the conference area. Due to its elegant and modular design, Infinity was chosen as the main interior solution. Additionally, wood details and digital prints were used to denote the functionality of key areas such as pediatrics.
Infinity signs with upgradeable Paperflex windows were installed in key areas of this six-story, 250,000-square-foot facility to evolve with the center as office names and department services change. Custom exterior signs and dimensional lettering elegantly identify the facility to patients and visitors and help them reach their destination. MercyOne West Des Moines Medical Center was the first hospital in Iowa to achieve LEED® certification for new construction. It was designed to be a modern, efficient hospital replacement facility in the center of the busy Wellness Campus in Clive, Iowa. The center is adjacent to the MercyOne Health & Fitness Center, which he designed.
Using evidence-based design, the team created a central model emergency department that separated surgical traffic and support from patient areas, promoted patient privacy, and created a calm and comfortable environment for everyone. The facility was one of the first to implement a hybrid decentralized care unit cluster model, combining the efficiency and safety of decentralized units with the communication and social benefits of a central unit.
