Florist In Des Moines Ia

Florist In Des Moines Ia – Q: How did you start? Answer: Tom Boesen: Boesen’s Florist opened in 1923 on Beaver Avenue. 100 years later, it is managed by the third generation of our family.

Question: Tell us about yourself. Tom Boesen: I started working in the store when I was twelve years old. I started working full time in 1972. Over the years I have seen many changes in Boesen and changes in companies. We have grown from a small flower shop to a Des Moines institution. I hope that future generations will see the value of Boesen Aladodo.

Q: What do you enjoy about your job? A: Tom Boesen: I like meeting people. In this line of business, we are in people’s lives from birth to birthday, marriage and beyond. We send flowers for the most important occasions and every time in between. I love being a small part of someone’s journey.

Because…flowers. — Des Moines Wedding Photographer

Q: What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given? Who inspires you? A: Tom Boesen: My grandfather always told me to pretend I was on the other side of the counter and trade from that perspective. To this day I don’t want to spend a cent on an unhappy customer, so we always do our best to make it right. It’s no secret that I love flowers. I love seeing them growing on trees, in gardens, and wrapped in plastic at the grocery store. However, I like to have them in my hand, on my bedside table, or on my head. 😉 Well, what better way to share my love of flowers (and flower photography) with you than with a blog post featuring amazing wedding flowers in Iowa, Nebraska, and Minnesota?

First up is the wonderful Jubilee Flower Studios in Minnesota. Sue is the sweetest owner, even though we have never met in person I know we will be friends over email. 🙂 Check it out if you’re looking for a florist in the St. Louis area. Paul/Minneapolis! She did the flowers for Andrea and Gabe’s wedding in June and she did a really great job.

Also, this is one of my favorite bouquets. I’m sorry this wedding day was like a dream! The environment is soft, sweet and happy…Liz and Scott’s day is absolutely beautiful. I actually sold Liz’s bouquet as a phone screen for a few months. #obsessed Flowers were made for them by Sunshine in Coralville.

Selena and Josh’s wedding took place in History City on Nov. Unfortunately, we lost a 70 degree heat wave for about two days. It’s cold and windy outside, but their photos are beautiful! Plus, Selene flowers add the perfect pop of color against the neutral November tones and keep well in the cold!

Another sunset – back to yellows this time! Lauren’s flowers really bring your whole look together. How can flowers complement an outfit?

Ryan and Lauren got married in Waukee, so they went with a West Des Moines florist for their wedding. What a beautiful flower, they did a great job with Freeman Flowers!

Katie and Jake’s wedding at Prairie Moon Winery took place in March – not the most colorful and warm part of the year in Iowa! White Willow does a great job of creating a clean, fresh and bright color palette. I can’t get enough of Kate’s scent…or green in general! Eucalyptus for the win!

Another option, of course, is to have a family friend create your bouquet… or you can even do it yourself! If you have never planted flowers before, this option will require more research and perhaps testing. However, it will save you a lot of money in the long run! Naomi did exactly that at her wedding, and the flower was very impressive. (Another variation is to create all the bridal flowers, but hire a professional for the wedding bouquet.)

Lux Farm Iowa

Anna’s favorite color is yellow, so her bouquet includes yellow and white roses! I love that it includes baby’s breath, green and pink branches, billy craspedia balls, and succulents! Colleen’s Flower Cellardied is a beautiful floral piece from a September wedding in Plymouth, Minnesota.

And finally, one of my favorite bouquets from this past wedding season! Maddy’s flowers came from the cutest local florist in Cedar Falls called Bancroft’s. If you are looking to get married in Waterloo-Cedar Falls, check them out! Her bouquet is mainly peach roses with red carnations, other branches and eucalyptus for accents.

I hope this post helps all brides (or brides-to-be) in the midwest as they begin their search for the perfect bouquet! There are a lot of options out there, maybe this will help someone narrow it down. 🙂

Also, just a personal plug for my 2018 brides… anyone getting a flower crown this year?! Please?! Thank you. 😉 #flowersaremyfavoriteI am the original flower mother (according to my children) and the proud owner of an SSD. I have been part of the flower industry for over thirty years. Growing up, I never would have thought it would be possible to have a job that required so much work (hint), but being SO! I pride myself on floral design and love to work with fun and interesting flowers, textures and color palettes.
