Craigslist Des Moines Iowa Cars And Trucks – Southern California car enthusiasts know that the Bay Area has some real vehicles with diamonds on the roof on Craigslist. My colleague Chris Rosales and I always include this in our observations, as the hit ratio for cool cars in infinite conditions seems to be above average. Although much of the Bay Area is exposed to salt-rich ocean air, it’s still a part of the country that doesn’t really see much in the way of rust.
In 2022, it’s harder than ever to find decent cars at affordable prices, especially if your budget is over $5,000. But they’re still out there, and we’ve found five that might fit a variety of needs. , from super budget to project cars, family friendly, fun and useful options.

Note that this is for harmless use only – the VIN has not been verified or emailed to the seller, so the actual condition is taken at face value. If any of these sounds appealing and you can afford a pre-purchase inspection, we recommend it. Also, let’s take a look at hardware under $5,000 from Bay Area Craigslist. We’ve also kept a search radius within 35 miles of Alameda, California, right in the heart of this beautiful part of the country.
Chevrolet C/k 1500 Series For Sale In Iowa
I’m starting this with a bang. Check out this amazing built-in masterpiece in Belvidere, Illinois! There’s no doubt, too, that it’s great to see a Plymouth Neon in pristine shape with over 100,000 miles on it. From the sound of the ad, it’s probably owned by an elderly person, so an old woman’s old adage about getting in and out of a shop might apply here.
For anyone doubting the potential of the 90s daytime neon ride, think again. It restores solid fuel economy, while you can do major maintenance (such as air conditioning) blindfolded and with one hand tied behind your back, it’s cheap to maintain. It will be, and it will be easier in parallel. – Park on the narrow streets of San Francisco, San Jose and Oakland. Also, some may want to preserve this beautiful model from a bygone era, but most people probably wouldn’t mind if it took gear from careless drivers with poor parallel parking skills.
The E39 5 Series is a legendary European body. People look back fondly on this period in BMW’s history, especially the top 5er, the 4.9-liter V8 M5.
It’s not exactly a six-cylinder model, but it’s still a strong choice. First off, it’s said to be an M Sport model, so it comes with slightly better suspension and trim from the factory floor than the base 525i. However, the suspension may need to be replaced if it hasn’t already, but components can certainly be found for quite a bit of money. The M54 is well respected among the BMW enthusiasts under its roof as an engine that runs at speed, generally without problems (at least compared to other BMW engines).

This example has covered 130,000 miles and appears to be in generally good condition. If someone wants to grow some vintage European food, clean it up really well and turn it into a nice weekend cruiser, car and coffee place, this wouldn’t be a bad way to go. Especially if they are already proud, and sometimes painful, owners of a BMW.
Smaller Toyota cars from the early 2000s are hard to beat, and this big old Sequoia is no exception. With the brand’s bombproof 2UZ-FE 4.7-liter V8, rear-wheel drive, and plenty of room for all-around activities, this thing makes a great tow truck, roomy family hauler, roomy work truck, or decent off-roader (although, it’s not all-wheel drive four wheels).
This example has covered 214,000 miles, just shy of Toyota’s 2000 total. I bet if you put another 100k into the watch, maintain it and keep it reasonably clean, you can sell it for what you paid.
Contrary to what most modern car ads would have you think, I think a large sedan is a solid way to haul a family of two adults and 1-2 kids. It may not be a facelifted crossover SUV (with a lot more interior space), but it’s hard to beat the massive late-2000s Acura TL for such duties. These things are generally reliable, comfortable and appropriately set up for their era, and I think they look pretty good to boot. God, how far we’ve come from the pure sedan styling of this era.

This example has some mileage, but if it’s in good mechanical condition and in really clean condition, I think $5000 is a reasonable starting point for a bit of a drag.
I don’t like the Mark Four (Mk4) VW Golf platform, because it was the hot hatch generation GTI when I was in high school. The brand’s styling, while still cool, changed drastically when the follow-up Mk5 hit American shores two years later, taking a break from the brand’s classic boxy design. This narrow-angle VR6 has great flair, because these things are a real mess, if only because of the noise they make with the aftermarket exhaust.
The listing for this example is a little inaccurate: the pictures show a manual transmission, not the auto listed, which could be good for anyone with a keen eye for three-pedal fun on the cheap. It may not even be reflected in other people’s search criteria. It’s a 24-valve, 2.8-liter version of the VR6 engine, which was a monster for its time – 201 naturally aspirated horsepower and 199 lb-ft of torque. The owner says it runs well and is well maintained, and that’s generally true. It is also well placed for its class and era. The interior looks to be in really good shape and offers great OEM wheels that could be driven back in the day.
Warning: Garage “Five Under Five” highlights five cars under $5,000 in a specific geographic area. The idea is to keep a finger on the pulse of the cheap car market and provide some context on the current state of what’s on Craigslist. Please note: We do not know these sellers and have not personally seen any of their cars. We only share them based on what appears in the ad, so pull out your wallet at your own risk! Sorting through Craigslist to find interesting cars for potential purchase can be a time-consuming task, so we’ll do it for you. . Welcome to our new weekly series where, as the title suggests, we’ll be highlighting some interesting cars, trucks and SUVs. Let’s just say they have hidden treasures scattered across America just waiting to be discovered. So let’s start with this show-worthy 1986 Suzuki Samurai JX. Also known as the Gemini in other markets, the Samurai was first sold in the United States in 1985.

It was a relatively inexpensive little 4×4 that Consumer Reports claimed was prone to rollovers. Suzuki disagreed with that assessment and sued the label for good measure. Both sides eventually agreed to settle the dispute. Anyway, back to the Samurai at your fingertips: this little off-roader is offered by Suzuki specialist Samurai Salvage, located near Des Moines, Iowa. If you don’t already know, Suzuki completely left the North American market back in 2012, so the fact is that it is sold by a specialist. Built and customized to enter car shows like World of Wheels, this sedan has an impressive mouse theme for some (removable) exterior trim.
The Mighty Mouse’s headrest stitching appears to be permanent, unless you replace the leather seats with a new pair. Additional upgrades include alloy wheels shod with BF Goodrich tires, a Weber carburetor, stainless steel exhaust headers, a heavy-duty clutch kit, and washer and antifreeze bottles. Samurai Rescue says the build itself was very expensive, which explains the $25,000 asking price. Under the hood is the four-cylinder gasoline engine we used for the US market with 63 hp, a 1.3-liter mated to a manual transmission, sending power to the rear or all four wheels. There is also an ignition on the central console.
Despite the Samurai’s compact dimensions and lightweight construction, it is still equipped with a transfer case and variable 4WD. Due to its body mass, the Samurai was a small off-roader that was less prone to overturning on soft surfaces than heavy SUVs. Another great thing about this Samurai is its removable top and bed cover. Also comes with anodized jack handle, lug wrench and hood support bar. But $25k? As good as it is, it’s not cheap for something over 30 years old. Again, this is a true, essentially basic analogue SUV. No electric windows. No luxury. That’s part of its charm.
