Mercy College of Health Sciences has been transforming students into healthcare professionals since 1899. Headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa, we offer master’s, associate’s, associate’s, diploma and continuing education courses.
Mercy College is the only private Catholic college in central Iowa that is accredited by the Higher Education Commission (HLC) and accredited program. School is in full swing again. For me it was a return to college football and it was a blessing to be able to see the Hawkeyes again. And speaking of studies; According to the latest US News rankings, the best universities in Iowa were selected this year.
Iowa is home to many of the best colleges and universities in the state. Did you know that Iowa State University is the oldest land-grant university in the United States? Additionally, only a handful of four-year institutions in Iowa are publicly funded. The rest is a combination of medium-sized private universities and small colleges. The top colleges on the list are in Dubuque, Cedar Rapids, Sioux City, Iowa City, Davenport and the capital, Des Moines.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that Alma Wartburg University ranks lowest on the “Best List” at 28th in the state. The top fifteen candidates are the prestigious Northwestern Private University, a Christian school in Orange. UNI ranks 14th as a public institution and is also ranked 17th among universities in the Midwest. Loras College of Dubuque ranks 13th overall, but 10th in the Midwest. No. 12 is the Christian institution of the University of Dordt, located at Sioux Center, it is also ranked No. 9 in the University of the Midwest. Overall, Simpson College of Indianola ranks 11th out of the top ten. They also rank seventh in the Midwest Regional School.

Central College is a private institution founded in 1853. Total undergraduate enrollment is 1,139 (Fall 2021). It is located in the rural town of Pella and the campus is approximately 200 acres. Tuition and fees are around $19,800.
